I'm not so sure I buy into this. Keep in mind, Roger was talking to fans and season ticket holders of the Jacksonville Jaguars here. The only way they will EVER sniff the playoffs is if the pool is expanded to NBA-type levels where .500 gets you in. The 7-9 Seattle Seahawks of 2010 or the 8-8 Rams of 2004, are their idea of a dream playoff scenario for Jaguars fans at this point! Perpetual third place to Indy and Houston, they will need to have that type of favoritism or nudge, or "participation trophy," to get them a game in January...
Also, if Goodell's lips are moving, you know he is lying or he has an ulterior motive of some kind. He's had a history of favoring certain fan bases (Vikings) and humoring certain teams and people, saying whatever he thinks people want to hear. Which is what I think he was doing here. |
