Referees want NFL to eliminate celebration penalties
NFL fans, players and referees all seem to agree that the league office is too concerned about cracking down on touchdown celebrations.
The head of the NFL Referees Association, Scott Green, said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that the on-field officials think the league office is putting them in a difficult situation with trying to figure out where the line is between a celebration that deserves a penalty and one that can be permitted. Green said the officials would prefer to eliminate penalties and instead enforce any celebration issues with fines. read more | |

Re: Referees want NFL to eliminate celebration penalties
I agree.
Or, since the play is over, some jackass in a suit in NY can dole out the punishment and let the refs do their jobs holding is holding, offsides = offsides, but how much celebration is too much? |

Next thing you'll know the NFL will have some Harvard or UC Berkeley Social Studies professors brought in on 6 figure consultant contracts to be sure there's diversity in the TD celebrations and players are able to freely express themselves in dance...
Hand the f*cking ball to the refs, take it to the sideline if it has personal significance or a milestone, and act like a professional that has scored before and will score again... |

No issue with celebrations.
The whole sport is a game, let them get on with it. Just get the play clock starting so if they take an age the coach will chew their ass out for a penalty |

enact the 8 second rule- do whatever you want for 8 seconds as long as it is not distasteful |

Re: Referees want NFL to eliminate celebration penalties
I see no issue with the celebrations In fact; I'd stop throwing flags for any one them. Except celebrations that would result in delays of the game; ex: Grahams yanking down the goalpost in Atlanta...

Re: Referees want NFL to eliminate celebration penalties
What defines "celebration"? It won't be long before we see them wheel a stage out, and do a 3 act play "Me And The TD"
