Re: Jon Gruden expected to become Raiders' head coach
It's not so terribly bad of a move if you consider the season ticket sales, branding, merch and jersey sales, TV visibility, PR, and the eventual high-profile move to Vegas. But as a coaching move, to win games? Obviously a secondary concern. As others have said, it is a look to the past, and Ditka-esque. But watch closely, I will bet you right now the Raiders get more prime time games and 3 PM "Game of The Week" kickoffs on next year's schedule, more favorable press, and more Raiders players in commercials and endorsements, than they've had for a very long time. Not sure how he'll fare with the X's and O's of the game, but look for Gruden to dominate the media, pump the sponsorship/endorsement angles, and work the league front office like a stud.
