The Rams were terrible for such an extended period of time they used to always be high up in the draft. When Jeff Fisher came there, they got that boat load of draft picks from the Redskins trading everything to get RGIII. I think they finally lucked into a decent roster due to all the high draft picks during their awful years and Jeff Fisher kept them at 7-9 so they kept getting good position in the draft. As time went on, they finally started hitting and got some decent players out of those draft picks.

It "proved" to Jerry in his mind that he knows more about football than any coach out there. Because he got that ring with Barry Switzer, he has felt ever since that he could truly win a SB with any coach. This is the sole reason no coach in Dallas since then has been allowed to do their job without him interfering and meddling with the team. Had they not gotten that last ring with Switzer at the helm, Jerry probably figures it out that he really isn't all that smart with running a team. Dallas has had some great talent in the past 13 years despite being in the purgatory of mediocrity. They would've made it back to the SB by now if not for Jerry meddling with the team (check the Bill Parcells years in the 2000s. Parcells constructed a pretty good team, only for Jerry to screw it up). Jerry would rather have a puppet head coach like Garrett, than someone who could really do things. Dallas currently has a stacked young defense that has tons of great potential to be a dominant unit in the future, but they'll never reach their potential as long as Jason Garrett is the head coach. Jerry will screw it up (and is already doing so by keeping the clapper at head coach), just like he did in the 2000s with that team Parcells built. |
