Re: Wilson now top paid player in the NFL
That isn't the only criteria I listed. But why wouldn't you? If I'm looking long term, I'd rather have him for the next 5-7 years than anyone else. He is their offense. That team is void of talent and they still made the playoffs last year. He's the sole reason.

The 2013 Seahawks had a historical defensive unit, one of the best in the last 20 years and is only overshadowed with how they lost the SB the next year and the 2015 Broncos' defense stealing the spotlight. The defense was the deciding factor though in both of their playoff runs. They had a last minute stop against the 49ers and held Denver to 8 points in 2013. In 2014, they shut Aaron Rodgers down in a game Wilson struggled in and Brady's 2 INTs were how they got that 24-14 lead in the SB. When Seattle wasn't blowing teams out, they were barely winning games by the skin of their teeth in 2013 where that offense struggled. Same thing happened in 2014. Wilson won a playoff game where he had 5 INTs (vs Green Bay). How often does that happen? I don't think Brees has ever won a game where he had more than 3 INTs. It helped that the Seahawks defense shut down Rodgers and only allowed 1 TD in that game. He's a good QB, but worth what they paid him? Hell no. I'm glad Seattle paid him over the moon though cause we won't have to worry about them. |
