It's not dirty if you believe it's not dirty.

I think people forget that man coached the "strip" that won us a SB. We had so many strips that year it was insane. The hit on Kurt Warner wasn't dirty either. Even Kurt said it was legal. QB's who think they are going to be a big boy with defensive linemen do not get a pass. Either get out of the way or accept your fate.

CLEAN HIT

He’s literally on tape telling our players to repeatedly hit Frank Gore in the head to give him a concussion and to try to re-tear Crabtree’s ACL.

That defense will forever be known for Bountygate and roughing up Favre in the NFCCG.

They also weren't all that great outside of turnovers. They ranked in the 20s on every stat. It was an opportunistic defense, largely helped by having Drew Brees in his prime on the other side of the ball and the #1 scoring offense.

Lost in all the talk about the Tracy Porter INT; Manning had a pretty good night in that SB (and funny enough, that was his best SB performance. Even his SB MVP against Chicago wasn't that good). Favre also tore us to pieces in the NFCCG.

If you go through the 2009 Saints defense, the turnovers began to stop after the Patriots game. They were averaging 3 turnovers a game, and then suddenly it stopped. If you discount the NFCCG where the Vikings practically handed the ball over to us every chance they had, we averaged just 1 turnover after dominantly averaging 3 a game before that. This stat continued into 2010 and 2011 when the turnovers had stopped by that point. Turnovers were rare for the 2010 and 2011 team, it was one of their biggest issues.

Greggggggg's philosophy of coaching guys to just go for strips instead of tackling, is what led to the BEAST MODE run. No one bothered trying to bring Lynch down, they were going for the turnover. You see this same crap all through the 2011 season.

GW does not deserve the praise he gets just for having one ring. His defensive philosophy and locker room culture is what led to this team becoming a mediocre mess during Brees' prime. Even now, we are stuck with retreads of him; Rob Ryan was basically a clone of Williams and now we have Dennis Allen.

They will never take that Lombardi away. It still feels great.
