Xbox 360 backwards compatability
http://www.gadgetspy.co.uk/2005/11/1...-compatibility
The XBox 360 has always promised backwards compatibility with software sold for the XBox. It’s now been announced that the compatibility will be available ready for the UK launch date. To start with, the new console will play 200 of the original Xbox’s games including - Halo 1 & 2, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic and all the Grand Theft Auto series. Support will be gradually added to the rest of the old Xbox’s catalogue, ultimately leading to all first gen Xbox games working on the 360. The behind-the-scenes magic is based entirely on software. To play the old games on the new console you’ll need to download a software patch which Microsoft’s doing directly through Xbox Live, via CD burning on a computer hooked up to Xbox.com or by a CD in the post. The XBox 360 is due for public purchase on December 2nd, 2005 in the UK. Amazon.co.uk are offering the premium edition for £279.99 delivered at the moment. Or you could opt for the cut-down “Core system at just £209.99. You can read more about the compatibility over at xbox.com. Halo 2 online, halo 2 online... I wonder if load times will even be faster |
