this is a discussion within the NOLA Community Forum; I'm doing my best to find places/ideas to go for my honeymoon (late October). Where have people gone that they have really enjoyed? She's already veto'd the idea of California (catch the Oakland then the Chargers games). Any suggestions?...

You thinking big city, beach, mountains? You restricting trip to the US or will you consider the islands?

My wife and I went to Gatlinburg, TN for our hineymoon, er, I mean honeymoon. It was late July and the weather was nice although a little hot. There was plenty to do and I had a pretty good time considering all the shopping we did. I can\'t say there was much for a football fan there, but I\'m a nascar fan and there were several places that offered racing themes.

We also took in a couple comedy shows and enjoyed them as well as the Dixie Stampede. The cabin we rented was huge with 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, direct TV (or some equivalent) and a hot tub for about $90 a night.

We were also within 10 or 20 miles of the highest point in Tennessee (can\'t remember it\'s name) which provided us with the opportunity for a nice mountain drive one morning.

Like I said it was all prety nice and we had a good time.

Acapulco Mexico, most romantic place i\'ve ever been and I lived in Hawaii. Exchange rate makes it nice too.

Thinking more islands or down south. Want a mix of relaxation (drinking), and adventure. I\'m also thinking more international than just the USA.

Thanks for the advice.

Key West, FL has a good mix of all that. Fishing, eating, drinking... exotic. Feels almost like you\'re on an island. Not nearly as touristy (not a word, I know) as the rest of Florida.

I just got back from San Francisco...that\'s as close to Europe as you\'ll get in the states. I freakin\' HATE their football team, but it\'s an incredible city...a bit on the cool side tho. Too bad she shot down California.
