Does anyone know why Lucas started with episode 4 of a 6 part trilogy? I think for me after episode 6 I lost interest. There was no way episode 1 thru 3 could match 4 in story or effects. 4 was ground breaking and the effects were unimagined in 1977! After 6 the story was over and the effects were tired. 1 thru 3 felt too predictable worked to hard to hide what we knew was going to happen. I think that Lord of the Rings will go down as a great story trilogy and Star Wars will always be episode 4 and those "other" movies. Lucas should have stopped while he was ahead.

I believe I saw an interview with someone from the making of episode 4. He said they were worried about the success of the movie since it was really a new type of film for its day. They believed that episode 4 had the best chance to hold the viewers story-wise than the others <imagine if you saw episode 1 first...>
Well, I suppose since they didnt invent AT-ATs at that time...its feasable. |
