Yes they save time, but you are like 30 times more likely to die riding in a helicopter than a car. It is quite the gamble. They are great for moving troops in the military or emergency rescues, but poor modes of transportation for individuals. The calculus on the time saved v.s. the increased risk to your life just isn't there.
My wife's father died in a helicopter crash in Nicaragua. I feel the same way as you, not that safety hasn't improved. Unless it's Marine 1, I'd always have my doubts.

Neymar Jr. pays tribute after scoring a goal today.

RIP Kobe Bryant. You will be missed.

Looks like pilot error... flying too low in bad visibility conditions.

Apparently it was supposed to be a 13 miles flight. Who flies rather than drives just for 13 miles? SMDH

From what I understand, the driving route has horrible traffic and it takes a long time to get where he was going. So this was likely a common practice for him. Just went horribly wrong.

I went to WWE Royal Rumble in Houston last night. Over 40K people. People were chanting, Kobe...Bryant, over and over. Blew me away.
