The last 4 playoff games we've lost, we should have won
I'm not saying that we had the best team in each of these instances(which we did). We simply put, should have won the games. In each of the games, our efforts were thwarted by complete retardation. If we aren't completely retarded for 1 or 2 plays, we win all 4 games easily. I don't get why we keep shooting ourselves in the foot. You can blame Brees(which he didn't play great and it doesn't seem like he can get the ball down the field anymore). In a few of the years you can blame the defense. The refs played pretty significant roles. I mean you can say the whole team could have played better in all of the games, yet in all 4 games we our TEAM played good enough to win, and yet lost ignorantly. It sometimes feels like we are trying to throw these games.

Re: The last 4 playoff games we've lost, we should have won
You make the mistakes they have made and you don not deserve to win
Lets go back to 2011 and the stupidity in some of the plays against the 49ers The game at the Vikings, you make that mistake at that time you deserve to get kicked in the balls. Just wrap him up and the games over, hell just slow him down and its over once the cavalry gets there Rams, screwed by the refs but only after some strange playcalling and crappy turnovers. I mean you have a 3pts lead, kick off with 1:48 left and give up enough yards to give them a 48 yard attempt, they had one time out. Thats some crappy play there. Tampa, stupid early penalty calling back the return TD,crappy offense all game after the first drive and that many turnovers. You simply don't deserve to win. And completely outplayed by the vikings last year The team as a whole have dropped the ball in 2011,2017,2018,2019,2020 Not to make at least one Superbowl in that time with them teams is a failure |

Re: The last 4 playoff games we've lost, we should have won
From 2005-2013 the Patriots won their division and made the playoffs every season (except the Matt Cassel year when they missed both at 11-5 which pretty damn good still) and yet every year they lost in the playoffs, 8 straight times. Many of the games were close and heart breaking. Winning the division 4 years in a row still matters, and if we keep doing it, the rings can come.

Re: The last 4 playoff games we've lost, we should have won
Most teams in the playoffs lose because they are worse than the team they are playing. I really don't think this has happened to us in a long time, and I'm trying to be as unbiased as I can possibly be. We do he dumbest ****ing **** in games where we are obviously the superior team. The Brees interceptions just all looked horrible, still I think without that Jared Cook fumble or the Brees int early in the game when we had the lead and was about to ahead by multiple scores, we win the game by multiple scores. I think we started making dumb mistakes, and dumb play calling followed. We lost by 10 to and we could have won that game by 14-21 points without just a couple of ****ups.

Successful seasons still didn't win the big one. Well till last year. At the end of your career you don't count pro bowls appearances or division titles. You can see the team had a good season etc and not win it. But for the last few years the team has gone all in to win the lot. That's why they are sitting here $95ml above the cap |

Re: The last 4 playoff games we've lost, we should have won
Another Lombardi would no doubt be great, but ever since I started following the Saints circa 97-98 - that following has been a source of entertaiment for me, first and foremost.
I've been entertained in the past and I was entertained this season, and that is all I can ask for as someone who doesn't have any effect on how the seasons unfold. As a former semi-pro team sport athlete I can say from a personal perspective that looking back you miss your teammates and playing the game itself - not the games you won or loss while playing. Now, it might be different to the elite athletes like Brees, but then again, it might not be any different. |

All I can say is the weekend is approaching and the bigger knot I have in my gut. We are not going to the championship game or anywhere else. But yes thank goodness for Brees and saints football , now we wait for spring the draft the cuts and the tears.
