The rest was signing bonus that was already paid but the Saints are just putting it through the books as Post June 1st. The league wouldn't let him drop his salary to manipulate the cap. It means nothing to Drew other than his retirement papers go through on June 1st.

Sorry am i missing something here
Drew hasn't written off money has he?

There are a lot of greats that are unfortunate never to have that. Still, as good as he was, we should have gotten him more. His best chances shouldn't have been in his late 30s and early 40s.
On your next drag reflect on the fact that at one point his contract gobbled up money to be used on a defense. I am not saying he wasn't worth the pay, I am saying he is/was part of the organization you believe failed him.

A lot of what he doesn't have isn't because of the Saints, it is because he was a Saint.

Maybe we don't point fingers as no one in that organization is free of having a hand in the outcome of out seasons. There is a cap and everyone wants to get paid.

$25M was guaranteed and paid last season (2020) and that included his signing bonus. All he has to do is renegotiate for league minimum.
