If Marcus should move on, I'd look at drafting another safety.

There is some talent in this years draft (kid from TCU & Pitt) class that could be had. Potentially another Antoine Winfield Jr. out there. IIRC he went in the 2nd … immediate impact player for Tampa.

I've been reading up on Safeties. There are several appealing products available if we want to draft a wide ranging, speedy, sure tackling safety then this looks to be the year to do it. I'd rather go O-line in the first though to open up the running game more and keep the pocket clean for whoever takes #9's position.

Good Safeties tend to have greater longevity; Marcus came out of the gates performing at a high level (PFF grade of 90+ as a rookie for what that's worth)...

Don't know why we signed or are keeping Malcolm Jenkins; I'd rather put Gardner in a position to make even more plays; should P.J. re-sign he'd be a solid nickel and great flexible depth...

Malcolm Jenkins is costing us $9M against the cap, re-work his contract and let Gardner prove he's expendable...

That money could've been used toward T-Rex and Mr. Marcus...

Some have speculated that his asking price will start at or around 10+M per. If in fact Trey does sign elsewhere, I'm not mad at him.

I suggest we DO move on from Marcus. Since we'll be getting 10+ compensatory picks next year, we'll have a chance to reload and cut salaries for cap space.
