As others around here have quipped - Father Time remains undefeated.

I never said anywhere that Super Bowl success is built upon an "aged" veteran. My reply was to the statement that QBing in today's NFL is now a "young man's game". I was trying to point out that this is not true and success more often comes as a result of talent and/or experience for a QB. I'll take that over fresh young legs or a young strong arm any day.

Personally, I believe that Brady is a cheater. The Pats are always getting busted for cheating. Don't forget deflate gate. I believe that he is taking something that isn't allowed and the league just doesn't test the golden boy.

Re: Brees coming back?

If he comes back he is effectively playing for 1 millions dollars

He has always taken his NFLPA stuff seriously and i don't see him all of a sudden turning away from that.

If he want's to play for a million and is healthy then the front office needs to decide if they think Winston is a future starter and asking him to not play again this year will be a massive kick in the nuts for him and there would be a big chance he walks. Unless they think that next year they would be in a really good position to go after Watson or Wilson next year.

Plus the number of calls he gets in his favor from the refs Rugs. Don’t underestimate how important those have been to his success. Does anyone believe a Brady lead team would have had the PI call missed in the NFCCG like the Saints did?

But would we win a Superbowl with 2020 Cam Jordan at DE?

Is Brees coming back? My heart and my head tell me no. He still played fairly well and didn't hurt his image by playing poorly the last few years. He wasn't great but he was injured and didn't tarnish his legacy. I love Drew but it's time to move to the announcers booth where we can still enjoy him! :p

Re: Brees coming back?

It all comes down to whether the reason he couldn't push the ball down the field was because of his rotator cuff or if he's getting old. If it's the latter, then it's even for Drew. I was a baseball player, I know what rotator cuff injuries are like. That would explain him having a hard time getting it 10 yards. If he came back and won a Super Bowl, it'd be the greatest story in sports history.

That may have been the case but I don’t question his play as much as his durability. I just can’t see him being healthy for a full season.

As much I ridicule drew Brees for his drop off in play, I truly wouldn’t be upset if he comes back for his
swan song. But I would be concerned for his health. That 49er game is instilled in my mind. I thought that’s how it ended for him.

I honestly think drew comes back for one more year. SP better be in his knees rn praying. He gives us the best chance out of the three and he’s already counting against the cap.

Don’t favor him coming back but can’t disagree with you.

Did you notice his head of "TV" hair? Why now if he were coming back?

The thing is, the way Drew has been getting injured would have injured any QB. Frankly I think he's been unlucky. Now the rotator cuff is a different issue and could be due to wear and tear. When Drew's hand went off Donald's helmet.... that breaks anyways thumb. The way he got hit in the 49ers would most likely result in broken ribs unless you are incredibly lucky. These aren't what I call age injuries. What happened to Peyton Manning was an age related injury. They are wear n tear type injuries, and these are not what are happening to Brees. If he comes back I just hope it's with a healthy rotator cuff. Arm strength does decrease with age, but it doesn't go from throwing it 40 -50 yards down the field to not being able to hit the cut off man 10 yards away. There was obviously some issue there.

I've recently injured my arm and rotator cuff. Trust me, I can't lift anything or do much with my right arm without pain. It messes up other muscles that try to compensate and your posture. So if he comes back, he has to get the injuries put away. Like we need to know whether he's hiding an extra leg or requires a heart transplant before the season instead of hearing about it from his wife in an Instagram post after we lose in the playoffs!

Re: Brees coming back?

Regarding Brees' shoulder, wear and tear, et cetera...

Don't be like most folks with short-term memory; remember, Brees came to us with a reconstructed shoulder via James Andrews MD...

The trama to the ligaments and tendons in the shoulder cuff required a radical revision of his shoulder retasking tendons and muscles...

THEN, Drew went through a Herculean Rehab Effort so that he could not only throw a ball, but at an NFL level...

For those of you who've not seen enough moons yet, when you get to your 40s and 50s, muscular stamina and recovery is an issue...

Whatever happens with Brees, we can not only appreciate his Career Passing Leader effort he gave us, but the strong leader he was for the team and has been in the community...

But you must keep his health and history and hours on the vintage quarterback...
