There's one popular train of thought (Ryan Pace, Bob Quinn, etc.) that drafting a QB every year gives you more chances of finding that diamond in a rough at the single most important position in the game. Of course, you'll have far more not make the long term cut, but some feel it is worth the pick regardless.

That said, I think Book has what it takes to stick around for awhile.

17 games is a grind even for healthy players.
