Yikes. With that wind chill, I bet it feels like 15.

My wife made homemade beef stew while I was at the hospital ... if the Saints play as good as this tastes we'll be in good shape!

Indeed Major. I wouldn’t want to be playing football (or hardly anything else) in this weather.

Put it this way, about 6am my terrier took off after both a cat and a possum this morning and he doesn't like the cold...

Started the stew at noon, brown the beef and deglazed with red wine, that lil MoFo came cruising back in once the smell hit that cool air and carried...

And it is great - peas, carrots, hash-browned potatoes, lima beans, in a light, flavourful au jus roux; missing eating this with my Grandma when GulfPort turned chilly...

Once made this for my friends in Mass (Wellesley); they half-heartedly felt guilty as I ended up cooking every night - and I didn't mind one bit...

Sounds beautiful ! I’ve never tried the hash brown potato idea. Mind if I borrow it?

Hell, no - By all means; cuts down on the starch bleeding out into the beef stew, helps the taters freeze better when you put some stew away for later...

That makes total sense! The taters are always the worst part of reheating frozen stew.

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/i...mR9gQ&usqp=CAUWe’re just getting out of a cold snap that saw the temperature in the -40’s (thanks global warming). I’ll be making chili tomorrow.

JP after reading your post I do have one question, did the cat or possum wind up in you stew?

Geezhus...No freakin' way...

As a teenager, we went to a fraternal athletic competition in Central Louisiana (Pineville); nice folks, but couldn't cook, actually tried to serve possom gumbo...

Our krewe was chock-full of Coon*sses, but no way were they eating possom gumbo (it smelled awful); we found a Dairy Queen which had record sales that night...

Every Monday. Miss Dad's Cornbread something fierce...

He had two Lodge Skillets that only cornbread touched; he'd preheat the pans with honey, butter, oil - this would give a sweetened outer crust to his cornbread...

Wish I could get Dad's homemade recipe right...

Yeah...'possom' gumbo. 'Dem Pineville folks can't be trusted...I think Guido used to live there...

In Pineville, Louisiana, you will find one of the most predictable places to be haunted—A mental institution. Central LA State Hospital is a psychiatric hospital built in 1906 and surprisingly is still under operation. It housed THOUSANDS of patients at a time and it has just as many buried among its grounds. Since this hospital was under operation years before the idea of the hearse, most of the first patients’ lifeless bodies were transported from their deathbed to the gravesite via wheelbarrow, until modern practices were adapted.

Sounds like a good place for the Saints to hold training camp. If they can survive that place hell, NFL games will be just a walk in the park.

Pineville, Louisiana, in the summer, is one of the hottest f*cking places on the planet...

I think I'll try to incorporate JP's dad's idea of greasing the pan with a butter, oil, and honey infusion. That sounds... succulent.

If the choices have left you rooting for the Cows may I suggest your menu include a high alcohol beverage.

Doing cannellini and chicken white chili with spicy Mexican cornbread (bacon greased cast iron, of course).

Yup. As much as I hate the Niners I hate the Cowboys so much more.

Totally opposite of a fan of either team but for a fleeting moment I felt a little sympathy for Mike Mccarthy.
Seem's like he got the short end of the stick with the Green Bay - Rodgers deal.
Next thing you know the camera zooms in Jerry's Box and brought me back to my senses.
Then very late in the 4th.quarter it appeared that the Zebras did everything they could to give the ball to Jerry's boys.
However the 9ers aren't going much further if Nick Bosa is out with concussion protocol.

I don't drink and opted for grilled cheese sandwiches, something safe I could keep down.

Apparently the refs love the 49ers as much as I hate them. Though Kellen Moore did himself no favors on that game-ending QB draw. He's going to get ghosted on job interviews now 🤣

As bad as the play call may have appeared, if Prescott would have went down after reaching easy range for the Hail Mary and then immediately found and handed the ball to the ref there would have been plenty of time to down the ball. That was on Dak bigtime. A franchise QB HAS to be more aware than that.

You aren’t the first offender Railboss, but As creator of this thread I must put my foot down. Since food items are the thread topic, all posts should contain at least one food item reference. Moving forward I ask all users to say something like...” shrimp po-boy..”, then any additional saints thoughts. Although I agree with all your points, you mentioned nothing that I want to eat. We need some structure after all 🤣

Anyone here ever make muffuletta? I went to Central Grocery last time I was in New Orleans. I'll likely go there again next season when the Seahawks play the Saints.:bng:
