Okay, let me direct this question to my friends, K_Major and JP.

What exactly motivates you to be so involved into the pre-draft and such? What makes it worth your efforts? You get so much into this circus. What drives your passions for it? We all know very few players y'all want are actually picked up by our Saints. What makes it all worth all of the time and effort to research these kids that will never grace our roster? And don't feed me the "they might some day". There's plenty of time between now and then to figure that out with some "real" NFL football experience.

Pitts & Trautman would probably be the best TE duo I would've ever seen wear the black and gold.
I'm not sold on Pitts at all - the hype reminds me of former 49ers 1st round pick Vernon Davis, 6th overall; who was a bust in my opinion...

That's harsh JP :p. Vernon didn't quite live up to the status but he was hardly a bust. A solid TE for years in this league.

Pitts has the tools to become a very good player in the right system.

Why does it bother you so much though? It's not a circus at all for me AG. I simply love the game of football & the Saints.

Living in Dallas, I've seen local kids up close and in person as early at 13/14 years old compete, many go on to college & a select few see their dreams become a reality on NFL draft day. Kyler Murray (Allen High), Myles Garrett - (Arlington Martin High), Matthew Stafford (Highland Park), Chase Daniels (Southlake), Solomon Thomas (Coppell) all good kids I've watch perform as teenagers become "big time" & NFL stars on Sundays.

My love of the sport has nothing to do with whether or not the Saints ultimately select them on draft day. I enjoy the interaction and opinions from others (Smash, JP, Rez, JNormand,Lee909,76, XVI, Rugs, Papz etc) on this board on scouting players, best "fit" & predictions on how they'll translate from college to the next level.

We don't have to wait for the "experts" predict who they think is best fit in the draft for the Saints ;).

There is a certain amount of narcissism in someone claiming they have a perfect record in something they do not participate in. By that logic I am undefeated in surfing competition. That seems to be one of Guido’s defining traits i’ve observed in the still short time I’ve been here. Since I joined last November, it has been interesting to observe everyone’s posts and attitudes through a playoff run and now an offseason.

I wonder why the Saints couldn't stop him against the Whiners in the playoffs game? If they do, they win the game and possibly another Tiffany.

K, play hindsight, consider - Was he anywhere near the hype of a TE who was gonna change the game?

I don't think so. He had a couple of standout games (one in the playoffs I'd like to forget), but was he anywhere what Jimmy Graham was with Drew Brees?

Secondly, for the No. 6 pick, did he really have that big an impact on the overall winning of that team? An impressive role player, contributor - yes...

But did him taking the field elevate the team like a franchise QB, shut-down CB, Dominant D-Lineman, or an Alka-Seltzer Neutralizer on the offensive line? Not even close...

Weigh his overall ranking amongst his peers at the position - Gronk, Graham, Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, Antonio Gates, Greg Olsen, Dallas Clark...

He never had 1000 ReYds in a season; only two (2) seasons of double digit ReTds (13), the 1st wasn't until Year 4; he avg just 3 ReTD avg in all the other seasons...

For that pick, like Reggie Bush picked in the same draft, there was all that buzz, and well, just a solid career?

Do really you want solid from the 6th pick? and not being an offensive lineman?

For me, that's bust, maybe not Tony Mandarich bust, but a bust for that high a pick...
