That’s the way the draft usually goes though... it’s never a player we expect. It could very well turn out this way. Maybe that’s the beauty of this: seeing an outcome that’s unexpected.

There it is. Because we are fans and are fixated on "needs". Need is a factor, but in most cases I don't believe it is the driving force behind a pick. I feel best possible player is the major component of the formula. If it is a close choice on that criteria then I can see need coming into play. I can, however, see "lack of need" carrying far more weight than need in the selection. But, when it comes to line play I don't see that as nearly detrimental.
