Re: Aaron Rodgers ... Should we ?
Of course they do and that's why we couldn't do it. There are not enough contracts remaining to rework to get what we already have and need (a few vets) as a minimum to fill the roster without trying to fit a Rodgers' base plus any sort of prorated portion into the 2021 limit. We still have the $11 million post-June 1st hit on Brees' contract to make room for, as well.
We currently have $833,487 in available cap on the top 51 players. We are over $13 million OVER the cap on the 79 players currently on the roster. |

I’m just saying if the team needs/wants to retain 4 or 5 players long term, then Lommis inc can figure out how to add a 6th.

Unfortunately, the contract situation absolutely precludes this from happening. And understand that this is coming from someone who hero worships the mighty Mickey Loomis. We can retain current players, but bringing a major contract in from the outside for the current season isn't doable. The league has even shut down trades recently which include the team giving up the player paying the current year's salary, so that wouldn't even work if Green Bay would even dream of doing that. It would probably take all our picks for the next two years to even try. ![]() |
