Aaron Rodgers ... Should we ?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; from which money tree will he get paid? Don't get me wrong, I'd take him in a corn dog second, just won't, can't happen. But I'm no expert, just can't see it being feasible....

Re: Aaron Rodgers ... Should we ?

No we shouldn't

He would be crying even moore than he is in a year after we gut the roster to pay him the 35ml a year he wants.

The team is already heading into next years with Williams,Armstead,Lattimore,Ramcyzk,Winston,Hill hitting free agency as as its stands 3.6ml in cap space(yes this will go up with what ever rise happens). I think its currently 35 players under contract for next season.

Need to pay our own players first and then look at others especially 35ml a year aging QBs. You would be taking the massive risk of heavily backloading a contract on a player that could decide to retire or whos arm could quickly deteriorate like Brees did
SmashMouth and The Dude like this.

"Two receivers to the left, Garcon to the right. Manning in the shotgun, puts Collie in motion. Looks in his direction...it's picked off! It's picked off! It's Tracy Porter again! He's runnin' free! He's gonna go all the way!

Another thing I find interesting about this saga is that Rodgers and Love have the same agent I believe. That doesn’t sound fishy at all!

Loomis would do some complex math using equations with imaginary roots plugged into 108 variable equations with every type of term imaginable (exponentials, logarithmic, roots, etc) terms whose integral just makes up one of the components of a giant elaborate formula he uses in multidimensional analysis. He will fit him under the cap to the penny. We can't comprehend Loomis' mind. Never say he can't do something. It's like saying an alien from another planet with a massive intellectual gap to even the smartest human on the planet cannot do something.

Indeed. Like I said, if he wants to sign 5 guys, he can sign a 6th as well. He’s like Scotty on original Star Trek. Kirk(Payton) says we need more power (cash room) or we’re all dead! Scotty gets the power.

I don't know why everyone thinks this is so complicated. Loomis operates under two basic premises: Borrow against future salary cap increases and spread out cap hits using bonuses and void years.

It works fine as long as the cap is rising. This year is a speed bump in the process.

Execute this process on Lattimore, Ram, and Williams. It'll free up cap room. Renegotiate with Rodgers with a huge signing bonus, extra years, voidable on the end.

That would work in a normal year. Perhaps next year, but the 2021 cap couldn't take even the first year of a signing bonus tied to a voidable end. The future years are not the issue. We are hard up against the 2021 cap with no jumping through hoops possible.

It was a joke. I'm well aware of what he does.
