this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Saints will NOT have any joint practices this year. Is this good or bad?...

The company line always suggested it was better to have reps against others in addition to reps with just one's teammates.

Logistics may be the issue. You have to have a willing practice partner. This was discussed last year on NFL Radio. They said that while many coaches welcomed mixed practices there were several that were vehemently opposed to them. It was part of the 17 game discussion and it was suggested in lieu of a third exhibition game they could have a controlled scrimmage coupled with a mixed practice.

I know Payton likes them, but what with COVID restrictions and such they may have just not been able to work one out. I know that there was early word of one against the Jags, but that must have fallen through.

Maybe they should do a scrimmage against Ohio St players, since SP is such a big fan?
