Re: CB Xavien Howard... should we?
So trade for a guy making top dollar then turn around and pay top dollar to Lattimore, Marcus Williams and Gardner-Johnson after this season? Otherwise what? Let Lattimore walk for a guy three years older than him?

Some think the Fins want a "1st", but say the Saints could swing the deal for a 2nd & package a player that would be golden. If you can land Xavien in NO, I'm sure Loomis could always restructure his deal & offer him more guaranteed money ... Ultimately, this is why he wants a new deal in South Beach. Nothing is guaranteed with Lattimore long term in New Orleans. XH is a baller (led the league in INTS) but probably a long shot however I'd still make the call . Due Diligence. |

Per Over The Cap, we're ($37,647,048) over in 2022 of the current projected number which is probably lower than what it will be... But it's still in the ball park and Payton just had Loomis do the Washington Two-Step with the budget so there's not a lot of money to roll forward...again... Make no mistake, there will be some cuts to some prominent names on this roster next season, some that some could argue should've happened this season... But committing to a now 28yo Howard means not extending what will be a 26yo Lattimore... As much as we'd like to be All-Pro at every position, the Free Market (Free Agency) and a Salary Cap won't allow it... Saints got a steal in Adebo; the caveat is Sean will have to act like it's 2017 again and start rookies, let learn, gain experience, get better... Not disagreeing that a 28yo Howard isn't worth a 1st, but what's the cost? the overall, final costs? |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: CB Xavien Howard... should we?
We simply can't afford him and keep the rising players we already have in New Orleans. He's good but not worth the overall cost of losing key players down the road because they want to get paid too. Go young and let them gain experience.
