Re: Observation From the Saints' Loss to the Giants
Got absolutely nothing out of our pass rush, never hardly sniffed Jones let alone a sack. Which is pretty sad given how well we controlled the ball with the run and kept the defense rested. The pass rush sets the tone for the team. We lost our edge and the Giants gained confidence the longer the game went on. Peppers getting super excited after the Giants won the OT coin toss said it all.

When we have to rush four we have a very raw rookie DE, undrafted-caliber DT’s and Cam Jordan who offers very little in the pass rush department these days. |

Now this week we had home field advantage and the added advantage of crowd noise, yet had 0 sacks and very little hurries and allowed Jones to go for 400 yards on 40 attempts. I think the defense ate the cheese and thought the Giants would crumble because of the environment. The much derided Garrett also basically outcoached Payton. Gotta be careful who you make light of in this league. |
