Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
It's a win! Even ugly wins are beautiful.
May not be a need for Verity with this Johnson fellow we have here now at kicker! |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Need MT back in a bad way. JW needs to just let it fly. Getting O back for the push up the middle is going to make a huge difference.
Trequan better get it together quick, because he's on borrowed time. |

Brian Johnson has made more FGs today than the Saints have made in the first five games.

Trainwreck Smith has never been consistent. Trout Man is a failed experiment and Juwon Johnson would be better to start. The team as a whole might be better using Kamara frequently as a wide receiver because Kamara is both our #1 wr and our #1 rb and he may be our #1 WR by a greater margin. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
I'm gonna come from a different angle tonight.
It was kind of refreshing to see Jameis Winston chew out #10 ... Trequan Smith. Several times tonight. Collectively, our WR group has underperformed. Good to see the QB make guys more accountable out there. AK can't play WR, RB, joker all game. WR's need to step it up. When Michael gets back, Trequan can have a seat. This defense is the strength of the team that's for sure. 4-2 is a good spot to be in. Wasn't pretty tonight but a win is a win. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Know a lot of folks were disappointed with the play-calling, believe Sean is looking ahead to next week vs the Bucs and saving the good stuff to take over the division...

Forgot to mention one more key guy ...
Blake Gillikin. He's a weapon. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Jameis needs to have his eyes checked out again. He’s not seeing the entire field. There were guys wide open on multiple plays. Instead of taking the easy completion, he’s making bad throws.
The Oline gets a D- for run blocking. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Thought Jameis started rusty, we should have had at least 2-3 more scoring drives early. But, I thought he played really well overall. Ran it when he had to. Didn’t force anything. He missed several early targets, his WR’s cost him at least 3 downfield catches…Seattle is a tough place to play….just ask Geno..hah. Demario is a beast, wow. Dennis Allen adjusted his scheme and basically shut down the hawks. Game ball to Allen and also to Pete Carroll for such a ****ty game plan. We did get a little lucky, Seattle’s kicker basically hadn’t missed a kick in 2 years…..so that wasn’t normal. But sometimes you need a little luck….and Metcalf is a punk.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Demario Davis was insane tonight, his best game of the year by far. Davenport is key to the pass rush. And go figure, we finally get in a nip and tuck game in bad weather with long drives where we could use Taysom the most, but he isn't available. Hopefully next game he'll be able to play and take some of the load off Kamara.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
I know JW is a bit inaccurate at times, but these WRs and TEs are not doing him any favors. The receivers the Saints have are extremely talented but simply not getting it done. Outside of Harris, after the season both WR and TE positions need a complete rebuild.

Marcus Davenport’s impact is undeniable. He’s out there bull rushing guys into oblivion.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Trequan was completely out of sync the entire game and it looked like they were featuring him last night.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
-Kamara MVP.
-Demario rivals the Dome Patrol. -Love me some Adebo. Impact rookie at a brutal position. -The WR corps is garbage outside of Callaway and Harris. It is not on Winston. -Understand why they signed Peat. But, they will regret the contract. -Love a kicker who kicks a straight ball. -Tough schedule ahead. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
JP that was a lot. But I agreed with all of it EXCEPT, Trautman. He’s hurting the team. He’s made crucial mistakes every game. I’m not talking minor things, I’m talking game costing mistakes.
I think he needs to transition back to WR. I don’t know if it’s the extra weight he’s put on to play the TE position but somethings not right with him. I’ve never wanted a player gone more than Trequan. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Can anyone name a LB playing better football than Demario Davis? Bobby W? Lavonte? Had to laugh at the replay when I saw Geno scrambling on 3rd down & out of nowhere Demaro appeared :o. Damn near took Geno's head off. Good thing the QB was able to duck.
I love JVilma but IMO Demario is better. https://media3.giphy.com/media/FlYid...giphy.gif&ct=g |

So he's got to get bulked up to block (that's a year min., kinda like Davenport needed bulk); then he's probably experiencing the first real, in-depth, technical coaching in his life... And Tight End at the NFL is a number of positions, or skills that have to be mastered; I'd made the same arguments with Dan Arnold of patience... These guys are coming in and getting coaching and really learning the position for the first time - and it's at the NFL Level! This is why when it comes to the draft, with the exception of a QB Josh Allen (a QB) who I was high on, I don't like spending multiple picks on small school prospects... Get the expectations, but like Davenport, it's not really fair to add that pressure, plus the adjustments to the NFL game, life alone are much... Does Trautman need to step up this season? Don't disagree at all with that part, but he's making progress which is more than we can say for TreQuan and Ruiz right now... |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
We'd be sunk without Kamara.
The Receivers are doing nothing for Jameis, Trautman is looking like an even worse version of Dan Arnold. |

Alvin was our leading WR in this game and he's not a WR. WR, RG & TE are definitely weak spots. I'd make a move for a WR before the deadline. No guarantees when we'll get Michael back. Brandin Cooks, Allen Robinson, Michael Gallup, etc. Texans, Miami, Chicago seasons are over. Make a call and see what it will take to make a move. You need talent at this position. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
I never thought I would agree to Brandin Cooks. I agree with Brandin Cooks now. Jameis may not light up the world. Maybe he will. Who knows? Nobody. Because we (a) can't get open and when we do (b) we can't catch.
I'm trying to express how I feel about us right now, and this is pretty much it: https://caffeinatedrage.files.wordpr...7/04/lolly.jpg Oh, and we block for :censored:. We can punt. We can really really punt. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Davis is a beast.
Tre'Quan is still a disappointment. Davenport is playing like I knew he could. Kpass is the best free agent this year. We need to invest in a real WR. Lutz is out for the year but the kid from the Chicago practice squad looked good AFTER his first kick off which was really short. Peat is trash! And injured again! We won an ugly game. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win over the Seahawks
Trequan back for one game and Jameis lays into him, honestly I'm glad.
Nice seeing Winston calling the Receivers out on their BS. Payton seems to let it go too, like he knows Winston is right. |
