He said that was what attracted them to Carl Nicks was that as a big man like that engaged, it gave 'em some more range to get push on the inside. First I'd heard that thinking...

But if you look at what they've signed, used on the inside, even Center, rarely did they deploy guys 6' 3" at C or even below 6' 5" with Jahri Evans being the exception...

I can sort of understand the thinking, long arms, bigger frame, of course it will give mor reach and range. Just that it usually comes at the expense of push and drive.

Jahri was the best of the bunch... IMHO he is the second best lineman we've had after Roaf.

Mid-round grades ... good strength, RPO heavy, mobile & quick for a man over 300 lbs. Could become a solid backup - Ruiz needs to be pushed for a job.

Mel Kiper’s newest mock draft has the Saints trading up four spots for WR Garrett Wilson. Here’s his reasoning:

There are many questions around the post-Sean Payton era for the Saints, but it's clear that the team has to add more weapons around whomever plays quarterback in 2022. Michael Thomas should be back after missing all of last season, and he could use a wideout to take some pressure off him. Wilson has the versatility to play in the slot or outside, and he can pile on yards after the catch. He had 113 catches and 18 touchdowns for the Buckeyes over the past two seasons.
If the Saints keep the No. 18 pick, offensive tackle could be in play, especially if Trevor Penning is available. Quarterback Malik Willis could be an option, too, but the Saints are more ready to try to win in 2022, and I think Willis needs a little more seasoning before he's thrown into the fire in the NFL.
