I don’t see anything wrong with pointing out issues the defense has. Philly ran it down their throats. They couldn’t hold lead against Atl and NY. They aren’t getting much QB pressure and, when they do, they don’t contain the QB well. It was fantastic that they held Buff to 10 first half points. But it wasn’t a dominating performance. For the most part Bills drove from drive 1 and D couldn’t stop them but for the Ints. And the Bills scored on drive 1 of the first half and drive 1 of the second. Don’t want to hear the “tired” excuses. Offense sucked big time. Defense was average.

Oh don't forget how our DBs do their little hand shake and dance when we're getting the **** kicked out of us in the 4th quarter with no chance of coming back. But hey...they did their job and batted a pass or had good coverage and have to celebrate all cute like a bunch of ****in losers. Lol.

No, Philly didn't run it down our throats. Josh Allen ran it down our throats the two RBs averaged 2.9 YPC.

You don't rush and contain a QB at the same time. If you sack him he is contained, if you fail to sack him he is gone. It is one or the other with very different approaches. Pressure and containment do not go hand in hand.

What does Josh Allen have to do with Philly? I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but Phillies RBs rushed for well over 100 yards and that has nothing to do with what their quarterback rushed for. Isn’t this supposed to be a run defense that prides itself or not giving up a lot of rushing yards? If it makes you feel better to tell yourself that they only averaged 2.9 yards a carry that’s fine, but that still means that they ran a whole Lotta damn running plays to get that many yards for their running backs. Got their butts kicked by an average team rushing for a lot of yards. Now cue the “but the defense was tired” lines.

And it’s entirely possible to rush a QB and provide a spy to keep the QB in check. How did teams ever play Michael Vic, Randall Cunningham, or Cam Newton if that was the case? The obvious offense problems are being used as a scapegoat to ignore defensive issues by some here on the board. Look at Seattle last night WITH wilson and the receivers they have. A big deal was made out of how good the Saints defense was in shutting them down in bad weather with Geno starting. After what their offense looked like last night the Saints D shutting them down doesn’t seem impressive.

Edit: Miles Sanders averaged over 5.5 yards a carry. Where did you get a 2.9 average?

Agreed, it is entirely possible but also entirely foolish. What is your experience on the defensive side of the ball in pads and helmet?

If you are applying pressure to a QB that means you are going after him which also means he is going to bolt (one of the hardest things for new QBs to learn is to stay in the pocket)... Why would you waste a man watching to see if he runs when you are intentionally making him run?

Look up the definition of "spy" spys are used to cover a RB who may carry in a delayed play or a dual threat QB in case the routs break down leaving him no option but to run without open receivers. A spy is not to watch your other defensive players chase a QB. If you are trying to apply pressure to a QB you have at least one man dedicated to rushing him, adding a spy to watch the chase opens up a receiver because you cant cover a receiver and spy a QB at the same time.

You need to go back and watch how those QBs were played, each and everyone of them was more dangerous when pressured than when they ran due to coverage taking their routes away..

Those people that you say are ignoring things probably just recognize that when you are a top 10 defense in the league and tied for 5th in points allowed but 8th from the bottom in points scored, offense is why you are losing games. It is math, not science.

So, are you saying the Saints D has no issues and has no room for improvement? Because my only point is that the D has issues and there is room for improvement.

You honestly think the D played like a top 10 unit during this losing streak? Against Atl? Against NYG. I didn’t play ball past high school, so good chance that you have more experience than I do. But it’s foolish to cut into me when I point out that Philly ran it down the Saints throats. Their RBs as a group ran for 170+ yards and had over 5 yards a carry in that gam. That’s without any QB input. Yet you come after me for pointing that out? That’s foolish and it’s foolish if you think that’s good defense.

Re: THURSDAY NIGHT IS ON THE DEFENSE.

I'm not expecting much from the team this week or the rest of the year to be honest. Next year however has a different feel to me as usual. Hope springs eternal!
