Are the Saints a microcosm of life?
At least for me as of late - and without going into too much detail other than the bit you know about my daughter being in the hospital - the Saints seem to be a reflection of the way things are going in my life:
Everything is horribly wrong and absolutely great. Never more has a season felt more like 7-7. I can't imagine I am the only one feeling this way in a pandemic world and with life always presenting so many idiosyncrasies. Thoughts? |

Deep thoughts neugey. You could compare this season’s uncertainty of how things would go playing without Brees to the uncertainties facing the country right now. Fortunately for me I didn’t have nearly as many injuries in my life this year as the Saints did. I feel bad and wish the best for those that did.

Deep. It's been this way for me for a long time - Fascinating how this Team mirrors stuff at the inner levels. I could go back and tell you stories about when I first saw Aaron Brooks and was like WOWWWWW... and then shortly after, it was OWWWWW... and between those days and the Super Bowl, Life was a Roller Coaster.
This year, at least right now, it's like, ok - decimated, deactivated, devastated, but guess what, my D shows up on the big stage and makes a GOAT trash a tablet. Looking forward to Monday Night! |

Re: Are the Saints a microcosm of life?
I find I am really not caring about winning or losing as much, it's more about being entertained by the defense, embracing the adversity, and having fun with whatever fun can be had. I mean a lot of this stuff, with the injuries, with Coach Payton getting Covid, that game with half the coaching staff out, Taysom trying to "be the man" while he's got a busted up finger....it's just been a crazy year, laughable at times, and not quite like any other season I can remember in a long long time. So I'm just rolling with it.
And that's very much a reflection of where we are right now in life....just rolling with it, rolling with everything, and who knows what bizarro events next week or next month will bring? But some of this defensive play has been pretty sweet. If we didn't have a really good defense, I'd probably be a lot more miserable, but this defense is a LOT OF FUN to watch, whether they single-handedly win the game or not. So I don't get worked up or emotional if things get sucky. As an older fan, it is very reminiscent of the Dome Patrol era to me. "If we can just get inside the 40 and kick a few field goals, maybe we can win!!!!" was something people literally said almost every Sunday back then. During the Bucs game, I kept texting back and forth with a friend of mine. "Are you seeing this? Can you believe it? How long can this keep going on for? Another stop! Are they going to be able to keep this up forever?" And Brady had multiple chances to turn the game around, and the defense just kept ratcheting it up and getting better, and better, and better. That was really fun. |

I hope your daughter comes through fine. Bless her heart. And I agree the world is going to **** in a hand basket. We're just along for the ride. AC/DC-High way to Hell. Only thing is it's a one way street.
