Time to invent a new position for Mickey Loomis and give Jeff Ireland the GM title and big raise. The Saints need to keep him.

Can we say only if they talk to loomis too?

Exactly what I suggested in the roster outlook thread a few hours ago.

Before Ireland got here we were drafting horribly on the defensive side of the ball. The guy knows how to scout defensive talent, gotta keep him at all cost.

She was smokin' 40 years ago. Still not bad at all for 58.

Just don't send Ryan Pace anywhere near Airline Drive ;).

They are hiring at the Cane's here on Airline Drive in Bossier.

This name calling is getting old fast. We don't log on here to read about your feelings for another man....unless he's a Saint. Come on man.

Or block me if you'd rather. I don't mind. Guido is going to stop harassing other posters here or he's going to leave. I don't care which one, but I'm on his ass until then. Bet on it.

Guido being allowed to post here got old a long time ago. He's a POS, and an increasing number of people here are coming to understand that. I gotta agree with what saintfan said in another thread, name calling should usually be kept off the table..but after years of Guido harassing and borderline abusing so many of the people here, I'm all for paying it back to him ten fold. Ideally he'd be banned, but since that doesn't seem like it's going to happen, chasing him off is the next best solution.

Seems to me guido has proven that he is more than willing (and proud) to dish out abuse but he can’t take it. That was his MO with me for the year plus I’ve been posting here. That’s the worst type of bully. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Jeff Ireland

This doesn't surprise me at all. He may still get some interviews, but his previous stint at running the whole show was a disaster. Some coaches make great coordinators but just do not have the genes to be a head coach in the NFL.

True indeed. I think you were about as patient and forgiving towards him as anyone could be reasonably expected to be, for longer than most could, and he was still a constant ass to you. He really is a drain on an otherwise great forum.

Thanks fry. Appreciate the nice words. I try (sometimes fail) to be civil. I don’t like having bad vibes with anyone...even Guido.

Jeff Ireland leaves, it's done...

We've only got two other good scouts as the rest are nepotistic hires (sons, relatives of coaches, etc) without a complete understanding of scouting...

All the more reason to give him the GM title. Loomis has never been a player personnel man. He's the number cruncher, a vitally important role, but not your traditional GM.

He's run off a few posters (Flipx99 comes to mind).

While he's proven himself as a good playcaller on occasion, there may be doubts as to how that would translate to head coaching responsibilities. DA took over as interim head coach when Payton was out with COVID.

I agree 100%, should have been considered for HC a long time ago. With that said, I've seen plenty of articles over the years that basically said he isn't really interested in moving on and is very content in his role with the Saints.

Never know until he takes the plunge. I think Dan Campbell is slowly putting it together.

I hope those articles hold true, he's been a staple.

If he is interested in a HC job the fact that he's not calling plays, is never on camera, and Sean is touted as a genius is not helping.

Carmichael was the odds on favorite according to some for getting the Packers' HC job back in 2019. According to this article he had a interview scheduled.

Green Bay Packers: Why not Pete Carmichael Jr for next head coach?

I’m more surprised Khai Harley hasn’t been a highly sought after GM candidate. He’s the one who does Loomis’ dirty work and salary cap gymnastics.

I saw his name mentioned somewhere yesterday. I've read so much the past couple of days I can't remember who or in what context it was mentioned. But then again, he not a personnel guy, right? That's more on Payton and Ireland. I guess it all depends what the owner is looking for in a GM hire.

I think those inside the business know his capabilities, but they may not include head coaching duties.
