I'd designate Malcolm Jenkins a post-Jun 1st cut, take the $3.95M cap hit, save $7.75M there...

And no one is gonna want him at this time...

Sean Payton has left a helluva mess and hamstrung future roster moves...
JP I really wanted to check the like on here but here lies the problem, moving Peat, Ruiz and Armstead all at the same time. I agree with your assessment but that leaves a bare covert on the front line with needing another WR and upgrading at the TE ( TE upgrade is needed also and I'm leaning toward a rb to) There is a LT in the draft I think could play G at the next level but having a hard time with one playing LT that is really good in the draft. I agree we need upgrades over Peat and Ruiz but Armstead is elite when healthy. Hard call with all thats needed on the front line. Totally agree about Jenkins and thats what has me leaning hard on S in the 1st round.

Good Strong Safeties can easily be had in Rd 4; while the SS can definitely be an impact position, for the level of play needed; that could be solved on Days 2, 3 of the draft...

Plus, there's some roster flexibility; I'd be slightly reluctant, but you could put Roby in the slot and move Gardner to his natural position of SS and draft for depth...

We're stuck with Ruiz short of taking a significant cap hit and getting a draft pick in return; and from what he's shown, no team is giving us a draft pick for Ruiz...

Now there are some teams that'd be interested in Peat right now; he's had some really good games in this league; feel we could find both veteran help and in the draft...

There's just no way to re-sign Armstead even if we really wanted to do that...

Would you rather keep Armstead or Marcus Williams; for me that's a no brainer...

And, in so far as WR, we really only need a modest FA signing of a DJ Chark or Christian Kirk to put at WRz opposite WRx Michael Thomas to solve the WR woes...

The Saints simply can't ignore the WR position in the upcoming draft. It's been too long ... IMO, if a stud falls at #18 (and there will be one), you gotta draft him. I was hoping we went with Brandon Aiyuk a couple of years back, but we went with Ruiz instead :rolleyes:.

Get a young dawg in the draft who can keep defenses honest.

Not enough route runners on this team.

Without Sean Payton you better believe we need to load up the offense with talent. He won’t be around anymore to scheme up things with undrafted guys.

I keep Armstead over Williams and draft a FS in the 1st, simply to not get whoever the qb is from getting killed. I leave Gardner in the slot I think he's great there. And like you said a SS can be had in later rounds unless a slot DB falls in our lap allowing Gardner to slide into the SS. Agree totally on the FA WR. Going to be an interesting draft with a new HC. Got to go for a few days, got weld tests to do for shutdown season, will discuss this with you later my man. I love this time of year about the draft and FA, although things change with a drop of a hat with FA moves.

McCoy has the goods for a terrific, active, get out in front and ploy the field Right Guard...

But felt he performed fine as a rookie Center, and had a ProBowl ceiling within him...

Really feel the Ruiz Experiment, moving McCoy to RG was another of Sean's Double-Double Reverse calls; Sean's Personnel Skills have been less than average...

The GM position really needs to be strengthened with Veto power of the HC given back to the GM; the Mickey Loomis Yes Man schtick has needed to go...
Everybody has faults. Payton's biggest fault and gift is that he's a big gambler with a vision. We all know that gambling doesn't work out every time even for a master mind like Sean Payton.

Know it's among Saints' fans many favorite moments, but if you revisit Ambush, it was nearly a disaster; Payton recently disclosed he screwed up choosing the wrong side of the field...

But he took the calculated risks and he unquestionably turned the franchise around by winning immediately thereby getting players to bye-in; he deserves loads of credit for it...

The mistake was a lack of checks and balances allowing one person to make so many decisions without accountability - we lacked a GM to check Payton from himself...

Even 49ers great Bill Walsh who won three Superbowls, had to go to Carmen Policy and sell what he wanted done - and that included moving on from Joe Montana...
