Re: 2022 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook
So this is where we are with regards to our WR corps; not to shabby a turn-around...
WR-X (2) 13 - Michael Thomas, 1 - Marquez Callaway, 10 - Tre'Quan Smith (FA 2022), 17 - Kevin White (RFC 2022), 18 - Easop Winston (RFC 2022) WR-S (2) 80 - Jarvis Landry, 84 - Dai'Jean Dixon (UDFA 2022), 80 - Kawaan Baker (RFC 2022), 84 - Lil’Jordan Humphrey (RFA 2022) *Tendered, 85 - Kirk Merritt (RFC 2022) WR-Z (2) 12 - Chris Olave (R1, P11), 11 - Deonte Harty (RFA 2022), 38 - Rashid Shaheed (UDFA), 87 - Jalen McCleskey (RFC 2022) If Cut Down day were 2 June, this is where I think the WR room could line up... WR-X (2) 13 - Michael Thomas, 1 - Marquez Callaway WR-S (2) 80 - Jarvis Landry, 84 - Dai'Jean Dixon (UDFA 2022) WR-Z (2) 17 - Chris Olave (R1, P11), 11 - Deonte Harty (RFA 2022) No surprises except Dai'jean Dixon over Tre'Quan Smith (or Marquez Callaway)... Believe the team, fans will soon realize is Dai'jean Dixon is the closest player we've had to Marques Colston since Marques Colston as Training Camp is in full swing... Also, if that cut down day were today (2-1/2 wweeks), we'd get back another $1.1M in space for Smith post June 1 cut or trade (maybe a R6 or R7 pick?)... Dixon would play special teams early so he can dress on Sundays; Tre'Quan likely the same, but not sure Callaway would after his big year, so I included Quez as well... While we debated where to spend the first round pick, knew Thomas was coming back and we'd draft a ready-go WR-Z to complement each other... But Jarvis Landry at the WR-S takes this group up to another level; it also takes some load off of the TE group that needs production besides a slowly improving Trautman... Crazy thing is we'll be chumming out some WRs we depended on last season at an unimaginable position weeks ago... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Dixon is big, will cover kicks, and has better hands than the back half of the group, including Tre'Quan; also, check out Dixon's NFLPA Senior Bowl film - promising film... |
