I'm against tanking the season because it is hard to keep the team motivated and/or reinstate a winning attitude. If you make trades before the season it takes a while for players to adjust to a new scheme that has had wholesale changes.

Totally agree. As a Lakers fan we had a few tanking years in the 2010's, and even after a championship, a bit of that spectre still looms. I just watched the "Battered Bastards of Baseball" documentary this morning. If you need proof that playing hard and having your heart in the game matters, for both the players and the fans, that's your proof. |

Administrative tanking does happen in major league baseball with player selloffs, but even then the players and coaches do everything within their abilities to win. Their individual careers are impacted.
