I'm still confused. Stopping someone with NPD seems to be equivalent to trying to stop the virus. Since they are disordered, are they simply not capable of controlling that behavior?

Is your goal to simply make yourself the target of attack so that attacks go nowhere else?

Also as a moderator, why not use moderation as a tool to control acceptable behavior?

I understand what you want to accomplish. It just seems to me that this is the most annoying and roundabout way of trying to pull it off.

This just seems like a tactic to me where the supposed cure is worse that the supposed disease. It has folks like the OP exploding in anger over the situation. I asked the same about 10 days ago. I just don't see the point where it ticks off the masses with no other real movement.

Right or wrong, Guido is who he is. And I'm taking your word about the cause and the fact that behavior is difficult to curtail.

I'd just like to point out as a moderator, your current approach isn't very moderate. And it's clear it's going to have quite a few unintended effects if it continues in its current form.

I wanted to take this one on separately. Personally, I would ignore it. However, I understand that I have the personality to not allow for writings from anonymous internet people to affect me, while others may not.

Being a moderator is a tough job. I do appreciate the work that you and the other moderators of this forum do on our behalf. I would not wish that job on my worst enemy.

But in the interest of trying to find an alternative solution, let me propose a couple of suggestions.

1. Moderate offensive posts. Moderators already do this anyway. If there's a post that off topic, or a personal attack, replace it with "Moderated due to personal attack" and remove the original content.

2. See if it's possible to turn off the PM system on individual users so that such attacks cannot be delivered via PM.

3. Explain to the offending user that these measures will be employed for a specific amount of time. If no moderation occurs in that timeframe, then loosen the reigns.

None of these really try to change the behavior of offending users. Or personally attacks them. Instead it just applies consequences for actions in such a way that continued poor behavior cannot reach the target while making it clear to the rest of the board that offensive/personal attacks will not be posted via the board.

I do not want the moderator job. So, please do not ask. But at least this is a potential end game that the rest of us can live with.

This is not a recent thing. This has been going on for YEARS with this little man. YEARS. And he gets worse over time. One post of support fuels him further. Watch him try to make friends with anyone who defends him IMMEDIATELY. Years in the making.

You have seen with your own eyes in this thread people posting examples of his attacks and race baiting. I ask you to trust that there are many many more such examples. You have seen with your own eyes his faux 'apology' wherein he does nothing but make excuses so that he can defend his own behavior.

Again I will ask you to understand this is not recent. Reason has been attempted many times...over years...and still he will not relent. Speedo is always going to be NPD. There are no pills for it, and the disorder is to deny the disorder. Years and years of therapy and then it's still a crap shoot. So we ignore if we can, and we push the disorder at its core when that fails - not individually but for the common good. In time, the disordered individual moves on because he can no longer feed his ego in the current environment. Speedo is hard core. He's broke but bad. It's going to take a while. Even in the face of those who have 'supported' and 'defended' him here - the very people who also acknowledge, at a minimum, that he rubs folks the wrong way, even with THAT staring him dead in the face in a thread devoted to nothing more than this situation:

TODAY this man (a) posted someone else's material on this board and failed to provide a link and (b) only after I flagged him for it did he link to it and (c)
he immediately made excuses then (d) claimed he was being harassed and (e) tried to imply this his behavior was perfectly legal. Rules mean nothing to NPD. Victim mode, today as any other. It's a simple rule - to link back, but speedo can't give that credit to the creator. He has no real opinion or knowledge to share, so he steals it, even when he does link back. That hit home with him and he reacted...in a typically NPD way.

Dude is sick sir. Again I fully understand this is disruptive, and I harbor no ill will to anyone who chooses to ignore me through this course of action. I knew it going in - that people would be disrupted and frustrated with me. In the end I say again, the ONLY person you've seen him attack in weeks is me, because I'm bringing his NPD behavior directly to his front door, every day - every post. So, he's uber-nice to everyone else and tries to make this about me against him...tries to make it personal. That's what NPD does. He has not yet come to understand I do not mind being the villain as he perceives it. I don't have that kind of ego.

People have a right to post here without being attacked for their opinions.
Race baiting is dangerous. Speedo is public enemy #1 on both counts. Trust in the process. It's already working. Try to have a laugh. I'm trying to keep it funny. It's the least I can do...

I apologize to you personally, jonny. I have tried my best for the last two months to avoid any confrontation with saintfan and others. I placed him on my ignore list to hopefully bring any back and forth to an end for good, but whenever I post anything I see a hidden post by him.

I am giving speedo what he gives. Deliberately. Many times over. And it makes perfect sense once it is understood how to deal with NPD. Every reasonable effort was made by me via PM to ask and ultimately tell him to stop, then warn him that what's happening right now would be the result. It didn't happen overnight or even over a few months. My first official warning to him was in 2018. From then to now he has not stopped, almost challenging me just as he does others in thread after thread. His behavior actually became worse, because nobody tells NPD that he's in the wrong and gets away with it.

Yes, the point has been proven. By me. Also by others who have recounted their own experiences, and there is SO MUCH more that people not tasked with keeping the peace here see or have to deal with. And with the proven point the behavior has not stopped and has become what we see here now.

As I have said, no hard feelings. The ignore button is an excellent option until this is over. It stops when speedo stops...as long as it takes.

I blocked saintsfan some time ago because of this incessant crap! Now I have to see posters quoting him and asking for him politely to "Let It Go". Unfortunately, he would rather run everybody off rather than stopping his aggressive agenda against other members. I spend less and less time on here because of this nonstop discourse which is a huge downer for people who don't enjoy arguing.

I hope that Halo knows that the bng harmony is struggling because of this heavy discourse on the board. On the bright side, if saintsfan runs everybody off then Guido will quit posting and he can have the place all to himself. :roll:

Did you block speedo while he was relentlessly harassing other members? Tell the board about it? Step in to defend any of people he attacked? Tasked with keeping the peace here? Read every post in every thread? Tried sending speedo PMs asking him to stop? React at all to the race baiting?

Guido's insufferable autofellatio comes in two distinct flavors. Blind optimism or sound bites from others and neither are conducive to an objective exchange of ideas. He does however, quite often, deliver other people's thoughts and clear up the grayness of some topics.

Guido - You are an idealist and I have found it very difficult to have a qualitative objective discussion with idealists. They tend to believe they are an authority on topics and the discussion is either a vehement agreement or disagreement, neither of which are appealing to people that enjoy throwing ideas around. You may want to start your own blog that might suit your style much better.

As far as Saintsfan, his crusade to open Guido's eyes can be a bit like that mosquito buzz in your ear we are all so familiar with but that is intentional and not his general M.O.. It never ends well for the mosquito, quite often leads to Google searches on 'how to build a flamethrower'.

Saintsfan - "Highroad" is all that I can say. Your efforts have been recognized but there is just no ground to be made.

As for me... I got lost a few years ago and it took some hard words from Papz, and three deaths in my close family inside of 6 weeks to open my eyes to what I genuinely value and what the person I want to be looks like. I know you are reading my opening line and asking 'WF you going on about'? LOL Well, we all have our nature don't we? I recognize that I can be caustic but try to turn it into something constructive... I find that caustic is an idea but if a little thought is applied it can be transformed into something useful.

A few terms to ponder.

Intellect - The faculty of reasoning and understanding objectively. (We all like to think we are intelligent don't we? Prove it)
Objectivity - Free from bias. (You can be a fanatic and still have objective discussion)
Conversation - A talk, especially an informal one, between two or more people, in which news and ideas are exchanged. (Do I need to provide the definition of 'exchange' or can we figure it out?)

It's hardly nonsense to those who have been relentlessly and personally attacked by little speedo and those who have been targeted by his race baiting, and no, it won't stop until speedo acknowledges and apologizes. And I haven't even mentioned his tendency for plagiarism. Oh, and he'll have to actually stop too, which he STILL has not done. But..., if I may toot my own horn here, his attacks have been far fewer, likely because he sees me in his rearview mirror after every post he makes. That means that while you may have to block me, everyone here can post freely without little speedo's NPD ruining their experience.

Just keep me blocked until speedo stops brother - since you two are buds maybe you can convince him? Then you can get back to enjoying my posts the way God intended. :cool:
