Fair question... and in all fairness also, we should always expect and see improvement, no matter who is at the helm. We'll see what portends.

I'm expecting improvement just based upon the degree in which the offense was decimated last year. It CAN'T get worse ... can it?

True. There were more than a few complaining that Payton was getting stale for lack of a better word.

Yeah I don’t know about this. Pete’s spent years trying to avoid being in a position of authority because apparently it’s just not his style. Now we have a defensive head coach so it’s squarely on Carmichael to run the offense.

How do you know this for certain?

A perennial top 10 offense. Outside of personnel, what needs to be improved?

Well he's more than qualified. I was hoping for a fresh set of eyes but I'm good with it. As long as we don't see any 4 and short jet sweeps, we'll be just fine.

I'll be curious to see what Dougie M does with the O line. Specifically RUIZ, Peat & Landon Young.

Collectively, the Saints O line didn't perform up to their potential in 2021, even when healthy.

Pete Carmichael called the offense in 2012 with no input from Sean Payton. Saints had the #2 offense in the NFL. It was the defense that was a trainwreck.

Exactly. I think given an improved O-line, with a qb( hopefully Winston) that has a really good deep ball (2011 and 2012 season come to mind) a set of decent rb's and wr's we could be a very good O with him calling the shots. This draft and FA's are going to be key for the O this season, more than any in recent years.

I don’t want to hack on Book either, but he is a project guy I doubt many HCs would have taken when/where Payton drafted him. Hope he proves me dead wrong.

I think Hill might become a really good TE in a short period of time. I don't look at him as a qb anymore. One more concussion with the his style of play bothers me also. I can't discount Book yet but he's tough. He might do better with a line to protect him. We got Bortles also, he will beat Hill out in camp if the Hill experiment continues.
