Water flows over New Orleans levee
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Water washed over a levee in New Orleans' hard-hit 9th Ward on Friday as Hurricane Rita swept towards the region, the Army Corps of Engineers said.
Heavy rain and intensifying winds from the storm had reached the city Friday, threatening the city's already battered city levees. http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/23/nol...es/index.html/ |

Does it really matter -- no one is left -- the water certainly cannot create any additional damage to homes that have been completely submerged for 2 weeks or more -- heck -- maybe the new water will help clean away some of the toxic remains

It does matter. It'll extend the amount of time my spouse and I can't go home to see if anything is salvageable. And not knowing is driving us nuts - we haven't seen our home since before Katrina hit.
You know the best part? I was in North Carolina recently looking for a new place to live. And guess what? - a friggin' hurricane showed up. Ophelia. Unbelieveable. I'm a friggin' rain god. |

bro if your home was flooded before it isn't going to flood worse. i am in virginia and if you guys were in that real small part of north carolina that the hurricane hit i feel for you. i would hope you weren't on the outskirts near the water where it hit. i would say that most of anything in your home is not salvageable. not trying to be a ***** it just looks that way. i am sorry you lost your house man

thnx 25. But you see my point right? We already know virtually nothing is salvageable. But not knowing how high the water got in the house is maddening. We had a lot of stuff that was on top of bookshelves, top shelf in closets, in the attic , etc. We -think- some of that stuff might have survivied. Hell, we even think some of the stuff that was submerged might be salvageable - metal for instance.
This not being able to go home and find out is for the birds. And Rita is just more convenient salt in the wound. Will we ever be allowed to go home and find out? Post Ophelia? Post Katrina? Post Rita? It's just getting ridiculous. |
can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.

LOE, keep your head up man. I lost everything on the MS Coast. The only difference between you and me is that I got to go home and see what the ***** Katrina did to my house. I feel for you having to play the waiting game. I'll keep you in my prayers. Good luck man.
