What a better position than last year but the worst position of all 32 teams in 2023 could mean is still having a net loss of players in free agency but less of a loss. If we are aggressive early, it may mean aggressively replacing a player we lose early with a lesser player we can afford. It is not reasonable to expect that we will be able to make a net gain bidding in a closed system against 31 teams with more resources that us.
