(Can’t believe I’m defending Smith!). Keep in mind a few things;
He had Brees throwing to him in his weak arm phase Had camps and preseasons impacted by COVID, hurricanes, QB battles Had Winston for 6 1/2 games and then a revolving door at QB Had no strong WR or TE presence to help him a good chunk of the time All excuses?…maybe so. But they all had an impact on his development. I’ll admit I’m down on him and this signing is not what I was hoping for. But it’s a long way until final cuts and if he’s our 5th receiver on the team then we could do worse. |

Re: TreQuan is Back!
I'm fine with this. It's 2 million guaranteed and he knows the system. If he's our 4 or 5 receiver, it's fine. His supposed skill set works with Jameis arm strength. If we wanted to sign a bigger name, this deal won't prevent us from doing so.

Re: TreQuan is Back!
Here are some interesting stats I found quickly:
Smith was 85th amongst all NFL wide receivers last year in both yards and catches at 32 for 377 yards. With 31 other NFL teams considered that means there were fewer than 3 WRs per team that had better stats than him. In other words, on average, his numbers would have been slightly better than the#3 guy on other team’s rosters. So, with CGM back (🤞 and Callaway living up to (and hopefully bettering) his performance from last year and whoever they draft (again🤞, then by numbers Trequan should be a solid 4th receiver. Just food for thought. I guess I’m trying to convince myself it’s not a bad signing after all. |

Re: TreQuan is Back!
The problem with 3Quan is his route running. He doesn't run crisp routes. Instead of sticking his foot in the ground and making sharp cuts he round the routes off which throws off timing and allows DB's to jump routes. He's pretty good in the red zone though. I just would rather try and develop other talents. I much rather continue to watch Lil'Jordan Humphrey grow as a WR.

Has he played a full injury free season yet?
Didn't think so. Let's see if this actually happens this year. Maybe his numbers improve then. | |
