First Half Impressions - not a lot to be happy about.

This is the first Saints game I've actually gotten to see this year. Listened to the last two on radio, because of Hurricane Katrina.

The win against Carolina came at a great time for me personally, and I hoped I was watching our team come together in the face of adversity. Sort of an "us against the world" attitude that would carry us all year. I remember the Panthers developing that attitude the year of their Super Bowl run.

Our offense is playing sand-lot ball, while the playcalling stagnates like the water laying around South Mississippi. AB's happy feet dance through every single play, pressure or no-pressure. His passing is inaccurate pressure or no-pressure. The O-line's pass-blocking is average at best, but then we didn't hire a bunch of pass-blockers, did we? These guys are "powerful run-blockers", so where are the holes?

Our defense is pourous, especially the secondary. I am tempted to blame Craft (because he rots), but it as much our all-star acquisition Smith who is blowing coverages in our cover two packages. Oddly enough, I thought our LBs would be the worst of our unit this year followed closely by the line. Not so, the LBs may be STRENGTH of this unit (that terrifies me). Where is our supposed killer pass-rush? Where are all these "speed-guys" who were supposed to be in enemy QB's faces all game? With the secondary picked apart and the D-line not even showing up for games, all we seem to have are LBs (who are sub-par, at best).

Special teams has hurt us almost worse that our pathetic offense the last two games. When is enough, enough? It's time for some changes all the way around.

Just my two cents.

Should have titled this thread, "Minnesota Game Impressions", etc.

Nothing much got better in the second half. Thank God for luck because that Devery Henderson catch was a miracle. Ball was underthrown and the defender didn't look in time, else that would have been Int #3 on the night for "Fumble-Man".

Glad to see the defense toughened up, though the reason they were able to was because they new every play the Vikings were gonna run was a running play. Not hard to D up on that kind of setup.

I predicted 8-8 in the preseason. I am only hoping to be that good now. I believed that the sportswriters who picked us last in the division were nuts and now they appear wise while I seem a fool. Truly scary thing is they may give Has-lost another year by blaming this one on the Hurricane. Before you scoff, think of the other inexplicable off-season moves we've all seen the last few years.

Lord help my Saints....

Your impressions are not far from mine. On thing sticks out though.

"LB's being the strength"..... ? Well, I guess if your D-Line sucks (yes, I said sucks), and your secondary sucks (yes, I said sucks), then I guess the LB's win by default. Personally, I think the LB's suck. Bockwoldt is hands down the best player in that unit, and he's a 7th round pick that's not even supposed to make the team. When that's the best player on your best unit, well... need I say more?

However. I will not blame this excuse for a football game on the defense. The D didn't do that poorly. I blame this sorry excuse for a football showing on the special teams (thank you Stecker), but even more on the disgusting disappointing "play" of a turnover laden offense.

We're a "power" offense. Hahahaha. Yeah right. Offense is our strong point. Haha again. Who do they think they're kidding. Brooks lost his poise, and overall the O was a sorry excuse to any football team. League wide.

It's a disappointing thing to witness.

Q: When will the fans ever get a break?
A: when the team is no longer based in New Orleans.

can anyone help me id this tune? it goes thwap thwap boom tch boom tch boom tch.

Qui a laissez sortir les chiens!
