Talk about irony
Last year I complained that we never scored on our opening drives. I now long for those days -- at least we didn't fumble the opening kick off.
In order to set reachable expectations for this game here is my wish list 1) Don't fumble on any kickoffs or punts 2) Reduce the stupid penalties 3) AB limits his blooper highlights to 1 4) We are in the game at the start of the 4th quarter. |

I love the old our D sucks, therefore AB doesn't argument.
Our D has looked better this year, not great, but better. The offense/special teams has put em in some tough spots. The stats aren't very good, but their play is better, based on what I've seen. I'll go to my example that tells the whole story: Did we think 16 points would beat the Vikes? No. Did we think 10 points would beat the Giants? No. So, unless we were one of the top 5 defenses in the league, we have no realistic chance of winning either of those games based on our offensive output. We broke 30 points 3 times all last year (2-1 in those games), and we are averaging what? 16.3 points per game. That is not going to do it. Before anyone criticises this year's defense, you have to look at what the offense is doing and whether it really matters what happens on D. When we lose 34-31, I'll blame the defense. But, 16.33 ppg is not gonna do it boys. We need to add another TD to that average before we even look at the D. This team can't score. Again, show me the money AB...I'm tired of him lighting it up between the twenties. Get us to paydirt. (And catch the damn ball when you're open in the endzone Conwell.) They have found all different ways in the last 2 games, even the 2nd half against Carolina, to keep from scoring. Fumbles off the pylon, slippery passes, dropped balls, missed 21 yard field goals, BS penalties to bring back punt returns. Seriously guys...the O has to step up this week and play smart. And the D needs to force turnovers. Mistake prone O with a no turnover D? That spells crap in a hurry. |
