Observations from games impacting Saints

After watching the Dallas/Tampa game, seems to me….

Payton will likely by coaching Dallas after this year based on their performance.

Fournette could run over the Saints if improvements aren’t made.

Julio looks pretty darn good, though is likely to wear down over the course of a season.

I predict Carolina beats us once this year. Mayfield isn’t great, but we struggle with them (see last year). Hope I’m wrong.

It’s unfortunate that we have to play the Eagles out of the NFCE this year and Tampon got the Cowboys. Philly looks much better.

Thoughts ?

You think you know, but you don’t know...and you never will! Coach Jim Mora

As runners:

Cordarrelle Patterson > Fournette
Mariota >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Brady

The Falcons' success running the ball was in large part on the legs of Mariota. Brady obviously is not the threat that the Falcons provided from the QB position. The Saints should be in a far better position stopping the run against the Bucs, especially based upon the rash of injuries to the Tampa offensive line.

Except Patterson had 120 yards rushing and averaged 5.5 yards per carry.

Absolutely! How much of that was because our defense had to keep an eye on Mariota? That's what I was talking about.

Are you bored or something? "Let's see, what can I do? Oh! I'll see if I can start arguments with Guido all over the forum. Yeah! That's the ticket!"

Have you considered taking up knitting, Boston?

Small observation on the defensive side ...

The Saints defenders made numerous efforts to PUNCH OUT the ball from the runner. Maye (on Mariota) and so did Pete Werner (on #17).

Win the turnover battle & you'll always have a chance late.

Coach Kris Richard fingerprints all over this technique.

Re: Observations from games impacting Saints

Sure looks like Dallas will be after Payton. If thats the case, we need to win the staredown on compensation not master the excuse on losing it. Loomis does not have a winning streak going on trade compensation so hopefully if he is still around he will get tough. If Payton says he will only coach for Dallas, or whoever his preferred trade partner is, and they say they will only offer a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but meanwhile they are getting ready to print his face on $100 cheese pizzas in their multi billion dollar stadium, we need to have the cajones to tell them to kick rocks and that we are patient and fully willing to wait one or more years for fair compensation or to keep a super bowl winning coach off a competing team if they wont pay a fair price. If we trade him at a discount its worse than no compensation because it shows we are pushovers and any good coach or player we have will get robbed from us, teams will tamper and offer big money through back channels, get our employees to to act up, and lift them from us for peanuts. Got to get value.

Concise and to the point.
