Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
It was close for too long. In the end, turnovers did in the Saints. Jameis reverted to INTs . His timing with Olave is way off. Was Jameis' injury a factor? Who knows, maybe, maybe not.
Time for move on from this loss and learn from it. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Look I get it, we played poorly on offense, JW gotta make better decisions however Ingram can't fumble (we were going for a go ahead score), then 3 straight questionable calls in a very competitive game.
Refs (stopped em twice on 4th down) definitely influenced the outcome in the 4th. The Saints DEFENSE continues to keep us in it. That's a plus. Latt gotta keep his composure though. We need you playing boss. When you turnover the ball 5 times, you taking an L in the NFL. Lots of football left - the NFL is a marathon, not a sprint. |

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Ingram needs to go. 2 fumbles, in 2 dire times, 2 weeks in a row. If he can't protect the football, let him be someone else's problem.
Proves that Bruce Arians offense wasn't the cause of Jameis and his 30 interceptions. Jameis was. Hes had stacked WR cores with both teams and still can't stop himself from messing up. He is not the QB of the future. Taysom would be better, in the short term at least Dalton deserves a shot |

We got the Tampa Jameis without the yardage or touchdowns.
Woof |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Wow man.. that was ugly
Turnovers and Pete Carmichael.. Draw up a different play with Taysom when he enters as QB.. Marks fumbles 2 weeks in a row started the snowball. Sean would've won this game Somebody had to say it Now hopefully the Packers show up against the bucs next week and we get it together. I understand Marshon standing up for himself but you have to take one for team sometimes. They really started jumping all Jameis' routes .. all out pick mode He's obviously hurting being so hesitant to run I think. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
The second half was the JW we knew and loved when he was in Tampa … No love from me today on that old JW showing up. It’s going to take some time to feel like he can play like a winning NFL QB. And I have been in JW’s corner up and until the 4th quarter today.
He can not win a game but he can’t just throw away the game like he did in this 4th quarter. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Even after the Ingram fumble and a couple of questionable officiating calls, the Saints had a chance to win it. This is on them.
Bucs D is legit, and it doesn't help when you keep throwing them the ball. That said. Saints are 1-1. Lot of football left to play. Nothing is over. |

I don't blame Ingram for the fumble. It was a great punchout by the Tampa defender. Only so much you can do.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Pete Werner .... > stands out at LB in coverage.
Another solid performance. Edit - our DE's needs to bring it. I don't think we touched Brady today. Even against their back ups on the Oline, no pressure. |

But not even getting to Brady, the most stationary QB there is, was pretty awful. |

It's clear that JW isn't healthy. Even more apparent on those deep throws ... something he has always excelled at. How much is this on playcalling (Olave was force-fed today) or an injury? I'll be curious to see if he sits next week but he needs to get healthy. Pete needs to change up his play calling too. Not a lot of targets to Juice or MT. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Dline is fine. Hel the Bucs to 13 pts what's the fuss?. Only complaints should be coming from the offensive side. In which the Saints just missed on 4tds its one game and bad one for sure but there are positive. It's not the end of the world or the season rather these games now than later. Bucs couldn't stop the run, couldn't stop the pass Jameis just couldn't connect. On to the next week. 3ints are inexcusable though as well as Ingrams fumbles

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
The play calling should have been like the first drive the whole game. Taysom Hill is obvious run on 3rd n short. This offense is at its best when it's fast paced and spreading the ball. We have identity no need to find one. Ceasars Ruiz and Peat have to be upgraded at some point

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
- The refs suck
- JW was the Tampa JW we all knew. Unfortunately, I think as long as he’s our QB we’re going to have to live with a couple of these performances every season. It’s just who he is. - The pass rush through 2 games has been an embarrassment. We are getting absolutely no pressure. It’s amazing the defense did what they did against Brady even though he had all day - Offensive play calling has been way to vanilla and predictable. I’d also like to see them mix it up a little whenever Hill comes in. Every team knows he’s going to do a read option and keep it himself. - It’s one stinker. On to Carolina next week. Who Dat |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
First pick was a throw that he tried at least 4-5 times earlier in the game and each time Olave was covered.
Second was over thrown into 4 defenders. Third…. Well the two before the third pick were nearly picked.. he slings into too tight of coverage. I’m not contributing the three picks to Winston being injured, injured makes you underperform, these were pure bad decisions . Olave might be our fastest WR but he is not getting separation and doesn’t fight for the ball. WTF was Allen during this meltdown? |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Bucs had 3 forced fumbles, 6 sacks, and 3 picks.
Damn, the Saints offense gotta get it together. Carolina is up next. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
When Drew played hurt it was because, even hurt he was better than the next guy. All things equal I believe JW is the better QB, but with 4 fractures all things aren’t equal. You paid Andy Dalton for this reason so get him up and playing until JW is 100% healthy. I believe this offense was built for someone like Dalton. Now I am all aboard the JW train but only if he’s healthy and right now he is not.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
This is why you don’t trade away your first round pick the next year for depth at WR and then jerk in your pants telling everyone its going to be #32 anyway. Stuff happens. Retread coaches are sometimes retread for a reason. Retread QBs are sometimes retread for a reason. Corrupt refs road girlfriends dont get tired of nice jewelery and white powder being left on the bedside table the morning after key calls go against the Saints. The Eagles are loving our lack of foresight.

I just really hate Jabo ended up throwing those interceptions. I could see his body language after the first one. He knew what was coming. He knew all he was gonna hear was 30 for 30 and it got out of hand. I just feel really bad for him. I’m avoiding ESPN and sports shows because I know they’re gonna drill him and the Saints all week. It’s unfortunate. We shot ourselves in the foot with the fumble. That was likely a TD drive. The refs always **** is. That’s to be expected. I hope we can bounce back this week.

Not even the great Michael Thomas (prima donna) could pull this one out. Turning point for the game for the Bucs was this Saints team taking the field at kickoff.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
It's hard to tell where the pressure comes from while watching the game in person from the stadium. Usually on a passing play I'm watching the receivers and don't catch the rush. They usually show one replay from behind the QB on the big boards to show any sack. It looked to me as if the sacks were all coming from the outside. The shots are always too tight to see much outside the guards' outer shoulders.
Can anyone verify this? I haven't had a chance to see any highlights or anything. We left the Dome at 3:15 and didn't get home until almost midnight. I heard fellow fans mentioning Jameis and "four broken bones". I've been out of the news loop and haven't yet got any info on that. The Dome was the most packed I have seen it since the last playoff game. Bucs fans really bought up tickets. |
Re: Observations from the Saints' Loss to the Bucs
Post Mortem Monday takeaways:
The Downers 1) Ingram is now a liability. That makes 2 RZ fumbles lost in as many weeks. He would be benched on any team if he wasn't a Vet RB. 2) Passes were force fed to Olave for some reason. His 13 targets (ignore that fumble lost) was just one shy of Landry and Thomas's targets combined! Were they not getting open? 3) Offensive play calling. Got away from the running game when they were being gashed by our RB's and got pass happy for no good reason. We paid dearly for it. Most (not all) on JW. 4) Teams now know they can goad Lattimore into stupid ish with very little effort. Although Fournette should've been ejected for throwing that first shot, it's rarely the guy who starts it who gets flagged. He needs to get his feelings in check and focus on winning the game and not the fight! 5) Ghost penalties to sustain a scoring drive? We're no stranger to the GOAT getting coddled, but that turned my stomach. The Uppers 1) That Defense looks rock solid. They had TB12 talking to himself on the sidelines for most of the game and that's always a good thing. Especially thrilled to see their RB's struggle on 3rd down after last week. 2) I don't even worry about FG's when Lutz is out there. Missed having him as a scoring option in the arsenal. 3) The O line pretty much stuffed Vita Vea for most of the game. I'll get some that disagree with me, but for a few breakdowns in scheme, JW had a pocket that he could have used if he stepped up quicker and got rid of the ball. 4) The Deep Ball is an option we haven't had in a while. 5) Lastly, it's only Week 2 and the problems I see can be fixed with coaching. No need to stand on the ledge.... yet. |
