The Reality - Both QBs Will Get Starts
With all the debate over Dalton vs Winston, I think its important to remember they are both brittle and immobile and we don't protect the QB well, so we are likely to see both over the remainder of the season, whether we like it or not. Its like when the Dolphins debated Tua vs Fitzpatrick.
Dalton missed games in short stints in 2020 and 2021. He was limited in practice but has not missed games yet. It likely will happen. Even if we go with Dalton it is very unlikely he can start all our remaining games. There is no indication Dalton has the durability to start 14 consecutive games at this stage in his career. Winston had a major injury last year. He was injured again in preseason. He was injured again in the regular season. He is younger than Dalton but more banged up and loves to hold the ball. If he is made starter again, its unlikely he will be able to start the remaining games. Taysom Hill may get or have to start some games too. If he does, he is most brittle of all. And if Dalton and Winston are both down at the same time, there is at least a 1/3rd chance Hill will happen to already be down himself with some freak injury from gadget plays. There is probably about a 25% chance that a 4th QB who is not on the roster or practice squad starts a game for us this year. This is why it would be nice to have a young QB with some potential at least on the roster, not a bizarre Sean Payton project. If we get some extra picks for Payton or trade some vets to rebuild, hopefully we can at least invest a 2nd or 3rd rounder in some QB who was projected to be drafted by that round. That way at least if we have musical chairs, we will have one lottery ticket in the mix. |

Re: The Reality - Both QBs Will Get Starts
Logical fallacies:
Dalton had a concussion in 2020 and injured his hand against the Cardinals in 2021 in a fluke tackle. Dalton has has a durability rating of 5/5 and a 35% chance of injury this season, Winston is also 5/5 with a 29%, Hill is 5/5 with a 14% chance lol. You are perfectly backwards. 15 of 32 QBs are higher than 20% probability for injury this season, there is no distinction here. |

I agree with you that we need a better quarterback. However, I don't think that the injury history for any of the quarterbacks is something to worry about at this point. After all, this is a contact sport. And don't forget crap occurs!(**** happens)

If Taysom Hill is a 5/5 on durability, Jahvid Best is a 4/5. The only way Taysom stays healthy is limited touches. In an major role he has never stayed healthy.
Anyway you all may be right. We will know in 3 months. Lets see. |

Comparing him to starting QBs is akin to making Sproles rush every time he touches the ball.
Very few players utilized like Taysom is utilized stay healthy, nearly all read option QBs in this league have had to try and stay in the pocket more due to injury; Russell Wilson, Aaron Rogers, Cam Newton... You pick a person (s) in the organization then post incessantly trying to convince your self and everyone else that they need to go. Left to you we'd only have a ball boy and a mascot on payroll come Sunday. |

Re: The Reality - Both QBs Will Get Starts
Left to me we would have Chauncey Gardner Johnson, a 1st round pick, and a head coach who would be over .500 on his career record if he had a perfect season. We might even still have Payton because I believe Payton left because he did not believe he could win with the cap hell, bad contracts, and lack of draft assets to move up for a QB.
Taysoms exact position does not matter. To have enough value for his $10 million contract he has to run yards with the ball whether thats as qb, wildcat, run plays, returns, yards after the catch, etc. If he does that he will get hurt. He is not a defensive player or amazing receiver. If you dont want me to compare Hill to Jahvid Best fine. He is RG3 without the passing skills but also without any fear from past injuries. He just goes and gets injured again. |
