Re: Matt Rhea on Saints WR Michael Thomas' injury/rehab: 'He's constantly working

Most of the 97 season is not missing 40 out of 50 games like Thomas will have done by the end of the season. Im curious what players have come back from multiple injuries missing the kind of time Thomas has and come back to play at the level they played at before. Adrian Paterson maybe? There may be a few but mostly id doesnt happen. And im saying that from a guy who wants it to happen. Because a WR group of Thomas, Olave, and Shaheed going into next year isnt bad if healthy. Probably will not have a ready Thomas though.

MT is in a bad spot. The way the 2021 season went down with no communication with the team and the perceived unnecessary delay with surgery will absolutely haunt him for his remaining time with the Saints. That is why people today are doubting him so much.

I hope we keep MT. Restructure the current contract. Add five years to it.
Then I'd throw it to him, call run plays for him, kickoff coverage, dry cleaning.. Everything is his going forward. |

Re: Matt Rhea on Saints WR Michael Thomas' injury/rehab: 'He's constantly working

MT did not just miss one season. At the end of this season he will have missed 40 of his last 50 games over 3 seasons. Personally, I cannot recall any player who missed that many games due to injury and went on to sustain a high level of production upon his return. Yeah he is young. So was Victor Cruz when he missed a lot of time and retired. There are tons of wide receivers whose careers ended early due to injury such as Victor Cruz, Sterling Sharpe, and Al Toon. If you think he will probably come back and be fine because of hope and rainbows and anecdotes please give me the examples of players who missed 40 of 50 games and came back to greatness. There are probably one or two I can't think of in the history of all the NFL. But there are thousands and thousands of players who missed 40 of 50 games and that spelled the end of their careers, because that trend is too long and not just a blip. So realistically, objectively, it would be an amazing story in Michael Thomas came back, but looking at precedents it seems like the odds are less than 1 in 100.

Michael Thomas just needs to change his position from WR to IR!
