Observations from the Saints' Win vs Rams

Nice to collect a W. We proved we suck less than the Lambs . Good to see Aaron Donald get his due with penalties for his dirty plays . And what do you know... Curtail the turnovers and penalties and get ahead with a win, even if it's against the fraud Lambs.

Yes, we still have a very slim chance for post season play. Let's see if this win translates into a string of wins.

Finally average play calling but good use of talent with the Hill Dalton combo. Not really amazed, I didn't hear anyone calling for Dalton's head today lol.

Dalton did well. Glad they stuck with him. Crabby would’ve gotten rattled and thrown at least a pic or 2.

Shows me Allen hasn’t lost the team. Solid performance with no TOs or
screw job by the refs. Saints have looked very good in 2 games now this year. It’s a start.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Rams

* Kaden Elliss, way to step up with Werner out. Led the team in tackles and sacks!

* You could really tell we missed both Jordan and Davenport, the outsides were wide open with no one setting the edges.

* Solid game by Dalton, good job limiting the mistakes.

* Olave! I love the guy. Hard to believe he is a rookie.

* The left side of the O-line (starting with the C) is atrocious and still they held up pretty good.

* Good to see Hill throw a little more, that will help keeping teams honest.

* 4-7 feels a hella lot better than 3-8.

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Rams

Awful performance by the D. Let Cam Akers whom hasn’t done **** run all over. Then a Kuppless ram team is allowed to pass at will until Stafford leaves. Least we forget the no name back up that takes them down the field almost at will.

As for the offense… very bland play calling, but at least execution was there.

Overall… not impressed, didn’t see improvement, just played a team missing a ton of talent.

The Saints got a good one in Eauxlave. (I didn't see Smashmouth use that one yet though I might've missed it).:bng:

Love those uniforms!
Nice clean game, and it results in a victory.
Every once in a while, Dalton takes a sack that looks ridiculously easy to avoid.
For about ten minutes, the defense forgot how to tackle. Then it all came back together.
We are incredibly deep at the DE position. Jordan, Davenport, Turner, Granderson, Tpassagnoh are all excellent.
Balanced approach today with a good mix of Taysom

Saintsfan4ever 11-20-2022 04:41 PM

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Rams

Observation: good things happen when Taysom gets the ball. Some of you stat-heads should calculate the Saints' W/L record when Taysom touches the ball 10+ times in a game (despite the vanilla play calling).

You’d rather they play like they did against Pittsburgh?

I just love Chris Olave. I’m glad we were able to get him. I can’t wait to get Penning back. I hate the unfortunate situation Jameis Winston is in, but Andy Dalton earned himself even more leash with Dennis Allen. We still aren’t using Alvin Kamara as well as we should. Landry sighting. Like that a lot. Hopefully we can keep rolling. Won’t hold my breath.

Sounds like it was a really good growth game for Kaden Ellis. Juwan Johnson continues to catch TD's and I feel stupid for not picking him up in fantasy. Hopefully I can nab him this week.

With the conclusion of this week, there will be EIGHT teams in the NFL with 3 wins. It's good we aren't one of them. If we can tread water well enough, that Philly pick may not be as a high as we feared.

Oh yeah, I think we need to see more David Johnson in the passing game.

I'm allright with that. Losing games and tanking and stuff, thats for teams like the Falcons and the Browns and whatever.

Absolutely, but I might feel a little different about it if they still had their 1st round pick.

Juwan Johnson is a much more reliable TE than Trautman

Olave is a stud

Defense again got shredded and can't tackle.
Game would have come down to the wire had Stafford not been injured.

I wasn't able to watch the game. Can anyone help?
- Did Turner start?
- How did he look?
- Update on injury??

Re: Observations from the Saints' Win vs Rams

My Post Mortem Win Takeaways

The Downers:

- More injuries. Do we need an Exorcism on this team? There HAS to be some explanation other than bad JuJu!
- PC and his play calling is pretty bad. Use of Kamara and Hill is still a head scratcher.
- Lack of speed at Safety is a glaring deficiency. Maye is a bigger plus back there than I realized, but the rest are little to no help over the top in defending deep routes. DA needs to fix this or we keep getting burned by speed guys with decent QBs.
- 2 INT's over 11 games?
- Tackling continues to be an issue. Akers is NOT Henry! Wrap up the RB's instead of trying to lay the Big Lick on them and you can stop the 6+yd gain for a 1st down.

The Uppers
- Ellis. IMHO, the man has earned a starter position. Nice play in the absence of Werner.
- No name D-Line. I'm all smiles because what could have been a disaster turned out to be a strength on D.
- Olave... say what you want about them trading our 1st round next year to move up and get him. I'm glad they did!
- Rasheed, Landry, and JJ. Please keep it going!

Mixed Bag
- AD was making better timing throws this game. But I keep seeing him staring down the right side of the field, when he's got guys WIDE open in the outlet and downfield on the left side and then he takes a sack. QB coaching?
- O line did a decent job of shutting down Donald (as much as that's possible with back ups), because I honestly thought he was going to have a career day.
- Amazing what happens to team play when they don't shoot themselves in the foot with flags!
- Kudos to all receivers that served Ramsey a nice hot cup of STFU!

If that’s what you garnered from my post, you should work on reading comprehension.

I know injuries come with the game but Turner’s injury is one that could have been avoided. After the play was made, Payton began to get up and celebrate. While he was coming to his feet, he failed to realize that there were still 300lb men falling behind him.
I’m not against guys celebrating but doing it prematurely may cost him some
time.
By the way, he looked great before the injury. And you could tell his presence was missed.

-The Rams have waved the white flag but it's fitting the Saints ended their season.
-Granderson is going to have a breakout season next year.
