I'd rather take Jason David on as QB.

Yes we should make a similar move. Carolina looked at their current record and even though cutting Mayfield might incur some cap hit they decided it was best to plan for the future and take the cap hit now rather than offering Mayfield a long term extension with a $50 million salary in 2026 to save cash now. We have the same record as Carolina and should be willing to put Michael Thomas, Tyrann Mathieu, Jameis Winston, Jarvis Landry, Andrus Peat, and/or Taysom Hill on the waiver wire in the interests of the long term.

Yes we should...
Shaheed can catch the ball from Mayfield.

Besides we don't have the luxury of not trying.

And crab legs still has a fractured back. And an injured foot that needs surgery.

If guys like Sean Payton or Joe Lombardi were still in the building, sure.

But they ain't.

Coaching matters.

When he came out of college I thought Mayfield would be really good. He seemed a good player and leader but now he has flamed out in two different places, that makes you wonder.

Coaching matters... he'd do better here. Plus as posted earlier, it'd piss off the Whiners.

It might piss off Baker too ... he probably requested to be waived at this time to try to be a part of a playoff contender, especially San Fran.
