I know of no precedent in the entire history of the nfl where a player missed 40 of 50 games and then returned to be reliable long term. Betting tens of millions of dollars on something that have never happened before is not wise. It would be worth any cap hit in the short term to flush less money down the toilet long term. Waiting because of how his contract is structured would be dumb because Loomis will just restructure it again where we have to wait next offseason too. This is why Peat is still on the team.
