We would regret dumping Michael Thomas the way Atlanta regrets dumping Matt Ryan today.

The Falcons took an unthinkable cap hit to dump Matt Ryan this offseason. He had all the tools and many said he wasn't the problem, but he just kept showing this one pesky flaw over and over, choking in the spotlight, so they did it.

Michael Thomas' one pesky flaw is missing 40 of his last 50 games (counting for being out for the rest of this year). The cap hit to get rid of him may be unthinkable. He may have all the tools. But Matt Ryan is gonna Matt Ryan and Michael Thomas is gonna Michael Thomas. Can't rehab Mike.

So think about how Falcons fans must feel today. Well, next year when Michael Thomas suffers a season ending pinky toe laceration compounded by chronic conjunctivitis and gingivitis, we can either be feeling 'thank god we dumped him' like they are, or we can be feeling 'not again, but you couldn't have predicted this, so lets give Dennis Allen another year.'

Doing what the Falcons do has never been considered a recipe for success.

You have to respect your enemies. You can't just say we will do nothing they do ever. Do you never want a new stadium? Do you never want a good salary cap situation? We have to keep up with the Jones to beat the Joneses. I can't imagine any world where their parting ways with Julio Jones and Matt Ryan was not a resounding success. Clearly continuing to pay those players would have been an anchor on their franchise. Now they go into 2023 with more cap and more draft picks and less aging dead weight, when they already have a better record and younger team than us this year. We have to respect that if we intend to surpass it. Thomas and Peat are our Jones and Ryan. We need to take the plunge and get rid of them. If your rival starts running laps and makes a fast time you don't say you want do it because they did, you run faster. If anything, we should get rid of more dead weight and clear more cap than the Falcons. You don't win a game of HORSE by quitting. You match their shot and then you do them one better.

Ok. But most of that has nothing to do with how they handled Ryan and the cap hit. That was the point of your post. I was tongue in cheek pointing out that just because Atl decided to handle Ryan one way doesn’t mean we
should do the same with Thomas.

Ummm Matt Ryan just replaced 28-3 with 33-0. I'm sure Atlanta is thrilled he left.

Thats my sarcastic point. Matt Ryan choked again. Michael Thomas will be injured again next year because nobody comes back from missing 40 of 50 games and is suddenly reliable. Atlanta is thrilled today. I want to be thrilled next year when Thomas is on another team and goes on IR with with a grade 4 stubbed toe.

NEVER!!!

The Superdome is iconic and just needs an occasional face lift. Other than that the old girl is still doing a great job.

The Superdome is currently undergoing a massive interior facelift which is going to make it state of the art. The location is such that it will continue to host Super Bowls for many, many years to come.

There’s no comparison between Thomas and Ryan. Matt has been terrible most of his career. Mike has been great and injured.
