Re: Zack Wilson... should we?
This. Dennis Allen and our front office really ****ed over Jameis Winston this year. It’s another bad reflection on our leadership, especially when the team continually identifies Winston as a valued leader…evidenced by the award he was just given and the fact he was a team captain.

Re: Zack Wilson... should we?
I have a feeling we are going to be very disappointed as fans with the compensation for Payton. If Payton ends up having interest in only one final destination then there will be no bidding, just straight forward negotiating. I hope I'm wrong, but if a 1st is involved it may end up being a 2024.

Re: Zack Wilson... should we?
How? By saying no deal? The other team can simply say, "Okay. We'll wait," knowing that if the Saints want anything they'll come crawling back with their tail between their legs. The Saints are not in a position of leverage unless multiple teams are involved in which Payton has equal interest. I just don't see that scenario. I fully expect Payton to weigh the options and make a decision on one team and then leave it to the Saints and that team to try to make a deal.

He's going to pick the ideal situation for himself and then it is up to the Saints and his desired suiter to come to terms. It would mean absolutely no difference to Payton if the team he wants to go to has only offered two 2nd's and a 3rd for his rights while a team that he doesn't feel is his best fit offers up three 1st's, two 2nd's and $20 million cash to the Saints for his rights.
Payton is going to go where HE wants to go and it doesn't matter what the Saints want in return. Of course, the Saints can always simply refuse to release his rights, but that just means they get nothing. |

Re: Zack Wilson... should we?
You need to look no further than his Mentor Bill Parcells.
After Parcells’s Giants won another Super Bowl in 1991, he retired and then signed with NBC Sports to serve as an analyst for its football broadcasts. (Sound Familliar?) Parcells did not leave the field for long, however. In 1993 he became head coach of a New England Patriots............ The Beat Goes On............ |
