If the Saints feel as though he's your guy, just take him @ 29. I tend to think we need to beef up the interior D line but wouldn't hate QB as the pick.

Hooker could flop OR end up as the next franchise QB.

IMO he'll be there in the 2nd round but what the hell do I know? I'm just an above-average couch coach

With McKee gaining in popularity as well, methinks he'll be there at both 29 and 40, but not later. And yes, we do need a TE.

I have been redoing mocks, and the results show McKee moving up the charts. Not sure he is worthy. But one can't argue with his stature, Ben Roethlisbberger-esque. Seems to read quickly too.

What say you... Hooker or Big Ben part deux?

I'm much higher on Hooker. I believe McKee is climbing boards because of his size, but he's always thrown half as many picks as he has TDs, he's never thrown for more than 15 TD's in a college season, and he's relatively immobile in an NFL where you have to be able to move at least a little bit. Hooker is the much better prospect in my opinion.

Let me say this, if I was an NFL team and Hooker never got hurt last year, I'm taking #1 overall. Either him or CJ Stroud.

Let's not forget that those mocks are being done by people that know little to nothing about these players. Tim's brother's wife's hairdresser's cousin, Simon, said he heard McKee likes the color blue. Tennessee picks him in Tim's mock in the second round.

I'm beginning to wonder if he would be there at pick number 40. I would hate to not pick him in the first round and then miss on the 5th year option if he's good. But would we need to move up in the second round to get him? That's what worries me. Throwing away more draft picks.

Big Ben College stats

Tanner McKee college stats

Big Ben's last year was way better, obviously. Other than that pretty similar numbers. Tanner didn't play much his first year. So maybe it could be analyzed as getting Tanner on the cheap since it's year three of Big Ben that elevated him.

Stroud feels like yet another Ohio St QB bust waiting to happen. He has real good WRs making him look way better than he actually is , IMHO.
Ohio St tries to claim BDJ. But they (Urban Meyer) whiffed on him.

Sometimes you just never know what you'll get at QB (1st round) but at some point, you just gotta trust your scouts & take a chance.

I remember some of these so-called "experts" were labeling Patrick Mahomes as the next Jay Cutler coming out of college.

Ha !.

I don't really see the similarities between McKee and Big Ben personally. I think he's more Brock Osweiler or Mike Glennon than Big Ben.

As far as Stroud, I can understand the apprehension. He's definitely surrounded by a lot of talent, but the kid is gifted. I would have loved to have seen him here under Sean Payton.

Even in the 7th round as SF did last year...

Purdy lucked into a system with three matchup nightmares on offense and one of the very best defenses in the league. He wasn't asked to do any more than not screw up. He did no more than what Bridgewater did for the Saints when he filled in. I just heard they postponed his elbow surgery until March today. They don't even know if it is going to take full reconstruction which has ended more than a few careers.
