Saints Pick 2.09 - DE Isaiah Foskey

DE made sense to me. After Cam, we are very thin and unproven.

Most sacks in ND history. I know nothing about him but that's a huge accomplishment considering their history.

Once again, position of need at an area of need.

Hopefully I’m proven wrong. But I don’t like it.

Yeah just noticed that myself, really like this pick.

You need to refill your glass. It sounds half empty. :D

But, explain why you don't like it. Curious.

The scouting report looks great. It’s definitely not a sexy name pick but I’m fine with that.

Re: Saints Pick 2.09 - DE Isaiah Foskey

I'm thinking that the team doesn't see TE as much of a need as some fans. Carr has made a career of elevating his TE's. Johnson, Trautman, and Hill can be a very formidable trio as is at TE with an effective QB.

Re: Saints Pick 2.09 - DE Isaiah Foskey

He’s very, very quick shedding blocks off the edge. And then that speed getting to the QB is spectacular.

Re: Saints Pick 2.09 - DE Isaiah Foskey

Honestly, his highlights show exactly why the Saints went for him.

Size, speed, sack record in college.

The Panthers and Falcons are building young offenses, our D needs this kind of help to stunt them.

Especially considering we seem to hit the jackpot with a couple UDFA's every year. That's like another draft for us.

Shaheed being a great example.

Welcome to New Orleans Mr. Foskey.

Dennis is fine tuning that defense 👌.

Looks like he's got a good first step and acceleration. Let's hope he's a bit of a sleeper with all of the quality edge rushers in this draft.

TE is a luxury pick or someone who's value is just to good with the roster as it is.

It’s not so much a knock on the player. They guy could be a stud. I feel there were guys who would help us more immediately for next year at places of more need. We struggled more on O last year than D. I scratch my head on spending first 2 picks on D. A 6’ 8” TE for example could have made our O a lot more potent. I feel we are passing on a Kelsey/Graham type opportunity.

Please don’t try to argue with me about this Guido. I don’t want to get into it with you. I realize you disagree. I can understand why he was chosen. It’s how I feel and time will tell.

Gonna start drinking now.

Hey bud- I hear ya but I don't really have a problem with the picks. Carr has never played on a team with a D in the top 20. I think limiting his time on the field will be key. Not to mention we are thin and old in the positions filled.

Also, I think we will get a couple of holes filled later, whether in draft or undrafted.

Re: Saints Pick 2.09 - DE Isaiah Foskey

There were games last year when Trequan Smith was our best WR on the field because Olave was hurt. Games where we were looking for RBs off the street. I’m not saying TE was the big position of need. I am saying we finished worse in O production than D. Carr may help (although his stats were not much better than Dalton’s). The RB we signed, Williams, may help. But we need offensive weapons. I guess people don’t realize our D outperformed our O last year.

I’d love to replace Peat, I do like the Foskey pick a lot though.

Plenty of players to pick yet, Boston. One thing that hasn't changed since I started watching football is that it starts in the trenches. The other teams in the NFC South have been picking up shiny new toys. Those toys won't be as useful when the Saints D-Line is disrupting the backfield of their offense.
I'm pretty geeked about the picks so far.

I wonder if Vegas has the over/under on how many our picks get injured in camp and miss significant time

Man. I felt that him playing at 10 lbs more weight really impacted his game. There was no explosion off the ball in 2022.

Re: Saints Pick 2.09 - DE Isaiah Foskey

Definitely a need and a player with a high ceiling but we see how this pans out.

We have to add some playmakers to our offense. I would have loved WR Hyatt or TE Washington but understand the pick. Hopefully we can grab Jimmy Graham 2.0 with Will Mallory tomorrow and a WR to stretch the field. We are very thin at WR with one injury.

Saw a recent tweet from Aaron Wilson stating "that Darnell Washington may have been pushed down on some NFL teams' draft boards due to a knee issue, per league sources".

Good luck in Pittsburgh.

Wants to learn from Cam and knows that he can bring intensity and the ability to create sacks and turnovers, I love this pick.

Like Bresee Foskey looks to be a high motor guy with speed and power and said he like moving around … another player that can fill different roles.
