I was thinking we will need him when Kamara ultimately gets a suspension.

My comp for Kendre Miller is another Miller - Lamar Miller

Nothing against this kid but I feel like on a typical offensive play you need 5 oline and 1 running back. We have zero depth at oline, and all these RB will struggle without blocking. Yeah Kamara willl miss games but so will Peat and probably others.Guarantee one of our starting oline is out most games, and then its some street free agent blocking for all this investment in RB. Maybe the players were not there but I would have liked to get some kind of oline mid rounds. Maybe we can do it in the 4th and/or the second round of free agency. Perhaps we should have taken calls to trade back in earlier rounds and get an extra pick to address guard.

You can find quality Guard depth in the 4th or with one of the two 5th round picks we have.

Well, I hope we do. Maybe pick up a vet cap casualty too. Hopefully we make a better pick than several years ago when the analysis used the term “on skates” and the pick didnt make the team. Hopefully we can find a depth guard who plays like he is wearing cleats. If not, I think Bresee’s dad could have to fill in.

Honestly, I'm liking this draft so far.

I will give DA credit, I think he better understands which areas are lacking, whereas Payton just used to draft 7 safeties and an OL / DL and then call it quits.

I hope the view is to get back to that 3 headed monster at RB. With Kamara, Williams and now Miller, that should take a ton of pressure off Derek Carr.

This guy is a good RB but this pick has me scratching my head a little. Aside from the obvious that Kamara will likely face some penalty, I am still on the fence with this move. Although when I watch him he reminds me a little of Pierre Thomas who is one of my favorite Saints backs. He also has a great average after contact.

Honestly I think this is DA trying to help Derek Carr out as much as possible.

The offense was completely anemic last year, Carr is good but he can't do it alone, he isn't Brees. Surround him with a good running game to take some pressure off, with change of pace backs that can all catch the ball and break tackles.

If Carmichael can get his head out of his rear, im very excited to see what the offense can do.

Need some beef on the OL to help with some of that.

The beef is there. It just needs to stay on the field. This bad luck streak of injuries has to end soon.

Precisely why we need some... injuries will happen, especially with "Popeyes Sammich" Peat.

Yeah, but the problem was we lost some of the backup beef, as well. We can easily plug one hole on the line, but not six. We can draft more bodies, but they won't do any good if bad luck hits them, as well.

As we all know, success on the offensive line, more than any other grouping, depends upon consistency and repetition. They have to know exactly what the guy on their left and/or right is doing on every play and that is dependent on what the defense throws at them. Seventeen different offensive line combos in seventeen weeks doesn't build that success.

It's been tiring in recent years having a dinged up backfield and seeing the likes of Tony Jones Jr or a vastly aged Ingram logging serious carries. No offense to them, but we can't afford to undervalue this position and giving time to guys below replacement-level. I'm on board with drafting another RB. We need to plan for a harsh Kamara suspension.

I love this pick. Watch his film and see the strength, balance, vision, and the extra gear when he sees an opening!

Re: Saints Pick 3.08 - RB Kendre Miller

I've stated in another thread that I'm not a fan of this pick because the Saints have other positions that need to be addressed before getting another RB. Miller might have been a BPA pick and certainly looks like a solid football player but OL, LB, and DB seem to be more of a need since they signed Jamaal Williams over a month ago.
Serious question: are they going to shop Kamara now and with the looming suspension could they get anything of value for him?

Well said! Especially his vision and balance. Does a nice job making guys miss too with those jukes and cuts

I don't think there's a chance of shopping Kamara. They need as much quality depth as possible at the position. All said, Kamara is still the best of who we have or can get. I believe we are in it to win now.

And there's lots of the draft left, the UDFA market, and wave two of veteran free agency.

Love Miller's number. lol. Enjoyed his running style, hopefully he can keep with NFL talent. Watched an interview and was in stiches the whole time. Hoping he develops into a real professional athelete. We're good with skill guys need some O Line maulers.

And that's why we moved up to get OL Saldiveri today.

Sorry Thirty, but I don’t see how we are good at skill players. We had a game last year where we fielded Kirkwood, Trequan, and Callaway as our starting three WRs. Thomas still has to prove he can play and stay healthy. Olave has missed games with Concussion issues. Shaheed is still raw. Kamara is older and facing a suspension.

Could things work out? Sure they COULD. Thomas might’ve found the fountain of youth. Olave might avoid more head issues. Shaheed might continue to develop and Kamara might stay out of jail. But counting on it is risky. Upper teams like Philly and KC have more firepower in their lineup than we do. I hope we have enough but I have my doubts.

Geez, chill out, Boston. There's all of the UDFA and a ton of free agent vets out there. And what we have now is nowhere as dismal as you are imagining.

This is the third time the Saints had made a choice with the 71st overall pick. In 1981, they selected tight end Hoby Brenner, who recorded 267 catches for 3,849 yards and 21 touchdowns. He is a member of the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame.

Just because I make an observation doesn’t mean I’m not “chill” Guido. It’s called an opinion. Was I incorrect when I pointed out we started Kirkwood, Smith, and Callaway in a game last year? I think a better choice could be made than a QB that may start for us in three years.

That, of course, is your opinion. My opinion is that the Saints have far greater insight into what they have, what they need, and where they can get what they need than any of us, absolutely including myself.

Yes. Like Ian Book. As anyone that knows NFL football knows, QB's are always a crap shoot, but it's something you have to take your best shot at anyway.
