What I have is understanding of what Loomis does with the cap. I may not like it, but at least I understand it. Carr’s base salary in 2024 is $30 million. Based on all past precedent, $29 million will be converted to a prorated bonus. The same is true in 2025. So, thats $58 million in a two year period that will be converted to prorated money. About 75% or $43.5 million will end up due in 2026 forward, in addition to $11.5 million of Carr’s original signing bonus that is already proroated to 2026 and beyond. That means Carr will have a dead cap of $55 million if cut before the 2026 season after those expected restructures.

Everyone said Peat and Thomas were both gone this offseason. Instead they were both restructured to avoid much smaller dead cap hits than $55 million. There is zero chance Carr won’t be on the roster in 2026 if Loomis is the GM. It's not hate it reality. Not restructuring a contract that big and taking the cap medicine is not in Loomis’ DNA. We would have to go full rebuild to part with Carr or else go into austerity mode to stop restructuring and take painful cap hits over time and neither is happening under Loomis. We will defer every cap dollar we can which will make the dead cap to cut bigger every year which will lead to a more urgent restructure every year.
